Job Summary
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Registered Nurse to provide in-home hospice care in Washington, DC. This vital role involves delivering personalized, high-quality nursing services to patients nearing the end of life, ensuring comfort, dignity, and support for both patients and their families. The ideal candidate will possess a strong clinical background, excellent communication skills, and a passion for providing empathetic care in a home setting. Join our team and make a meaningful difference in the lives of those you serve through energetic, patient-centered nursing practice. You will set your own appointment schedule and all appointments will be in hospice patients' homes in Washington, DC. between normal business hours Monday through Friday 8:30am-5:00pm. Pay is $50/HR and you'll get paid every Friday via direct deposit. Can start immediately.

Responsibilities

Conduct comprehensive patient assessments to determine care needs, including vital signs, physical examinations, and physiological evaluations.
Administer medications and injections accurately while adhering to HIPAA regulations and medical documentation standards.
Manage complex symptom control such as acute pain management, airway management, and comfort measures tailored to hospice patients.
Provide education and emotional support to patients and families about disease progression, medication administration, and end-of-life care options.
Perform wound care procedures including suturing if necessary, ostomy care, tube feeding management, and catheterization with aseptic technique.
Monitor patient status through regular assessments of intake, output, vital signs, and physiological responses; adjust care plans accordingly.
Document all clinical interventions meticulously in medical records while maintaining confidentiality under HIPAA standards.
Collaborate with physicians, social workers, chaplains, and other healthcare professionals to ensure holistic hospice care delivery.
Educate family members on caregiving techniques such as IV infusion management, specimen collection/processing, and basic life support (BLS).
Participate in discharge planning and case management activities to facilitate smooth transitions between levels of care or home settings.
Skills
Experience with hospice care
Skilled in medication administration including injections and IV infusions; experienced with pain management protocols.
Ability to perform physical examinations and diagnostic evaluations effectively within a home environment.
Excellent communication skills for patient assessment discussions and family education; compassionate listener with emotional resilience.
Competence in infection control practices including sterile processing techniques.
Experience working with diverse populations including elderly Geriatrics patients, individuals with developmental disabilities or dementia (Alzheimer’s care), and those requiring memory or behavioral health support.
Ability to work independently while collaborating seamlessly with multidisciplinary teams across various healthcare settings like assisted living facilities or nursing homes.

Pay: $50.00 per hour
