Position Summary

We are seeking reliable and hardworking General Laborers to join our team. These positions support either our Mechanic Shop or Weld Shop, depending on business needs. The ideal candidates will have a strong work ethic, be comfortable performing physically demanding work, and be willing to assist wherever needed to support daily operations.

The Mechanic Shop General Laborer will primarily focus on washing, detailing, and maintaining company vehicles while assisting mechanics with shop operations.

The Weld Shop General Laborer will primarily support fabrication and repair operations by preparing containers and equipment for repair and painting, assisting welders, and maintaining an organized and safe work environment.

Key Responsibilities

Mechanic Shop Responsibilities

Wash, clean, and maintain company trucks to ensure proper upkeep, longevity, and a professional appearance.
Perform routine cleaning of truck interiors and exteriors, including removing debris, washing surfaces, and basic detailing.
Assist mechanics with shop organization, moving equipment, parts, and materials as needed.
Help maintain a clean, organized, and safe mechanic shop and yard.

Weld Shop Responsibilities

Prepare dumpsters, containers, and equipment for repair by cleaning, grinding, sanding, and removing rust or old paint.
Assist with masking, priming, painting, and finishing repaired containers and equipment.
Support welders by gathering materials, moving equipment, and preparing work areas.
Operate hand and power tools safely, including grinders and sanders, as directed.
Maintain cleanliness and organization of the weld shop, paint area, and surrounding workspaces.

General Labor Responsibilities

Assist drivers with routes as needed, including lifting and handling trash ("humping trash") and supporting route completion.
Provide general labor support across departments, including:
Assisting mechanics, welders, and other shop personnel.
Moving materials, equipment, and supplies.
Supporting transfer station operations, including sorting materials.
Participate in snow removal activities during winter weather events.
Maintain cleanliness and organization of work areas, yard space, and facilities.
Follow all company safety policies and procedures to ensure a safe working environment.
Identify and report maintenance issues, safety concerns, or equipment problems to supervisors.
Communicate effectively with team members and supervisors to support efficient operations.
Perform other duties as assigned to meet business needs.

Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
Previous experience in a labor, industrial, automotive, fabrication, or outdoor work environment is a plus.
Experience with power tools, grinders, painting, or vehicle detailing is beneficial but not required.
Ability to lift and carry heavy objects (50 lbs. or more) on a regular basis.
Comfortable working outdoors and in shop environments in varying weather conditions.
Ability to perform physically demanding work, including standing, bending, lifting, pushing, pulling, and repetitive motion throughout the workday.
Strong work ethic, reliability, and positive attitude.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Reliable transportation to and from the job site.

Pay: $20.00 - $22.00 per hour
