Construction Finance Manager/Controller
Reputable, growing full-service retail establishment, providing an array of materials, such as hardwoods, doors, windows, power tools, custom millwork for new construction remodeling, has an opportunity for an experienced construction finance manager/controller to contribute to the development and success of our organization.
Reporting to the president, the finance manager will act as the “financial arm” to the owner and the guardians of our organization. This role will be responsible for supervising and managing the accounting department, overseeing all aspects of financial reporting, adhering to best practices, and systems for collecting, analyzing and reporting information, ensuring compliance, and contributing to long-term financial success. For consideration, this role requires previous construction background. Retail experience preferred.
Essential Responsibilities
Prepare financial statements and analysis for the company.
Develop as required “Best of Class” processes and procedures for overall financial management of the company.
Determine and ensure that financial operations related to retail operations are set in place.
Follow and comply with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) for financial statements.
Maintain all banking accounts and reconcile internal company financial software.
Record and research all financial information for analysis.
Oversee budget reports, preparation of budgets, and analysis of budgets.
Advise accounting personnel regarding all financial policies and procedures.
Oversee financial reports for taxes, regulatory agencies, and other financial groups relating to company finance.
Audit accounting and finance documents.
Update and maintain weekly cash forecast model(s) and present to management team.
Mange all payment plans to vendors and properly record all payments.
Forecast and plans according to fiscal needs.
Cash management
A/R & A/P – maintain traceability of all incoming payments and reconcile to BOLs or other documents. Input all vendor invoices (Bills) into QuickBooks nd/or Epicor program, properly documenting which classification they are associated with.
Coordinate and maintain relationships with outside CPA for proper financial reporting and for tax preparation and submission.
Maintain/update a weekly financial dashboard.
Monthly updates of Balance Sheet & P/L per daily and weekly entries.
Advise management team of financial issues – Cash – Payments – missing docs (Invoices and/or Vendor bills).
Ensure accuracy of departmental invoicing both outside invoicing/sales as well as inter-company.
HR Administrator; plans and directs human resources activities and company staff.
Develop and implement financial plans, analyze performance data, and identify areas for improvement.
Create and manage budgets, forecast future financial performance, and track actual results against plans.
Ensure compliance with relevant financial regulations and reporting standards.
Supervise and mentor finance team members, providing guidance and support.
Manage the day-to-day financial operations of the organization.
Ensure that all processes for sales tax tracking and payments are conducted properly.
Produce regular financial statements, program dashboards and support narrative analysis for regular meetings with the Owners and Leadership Team that provide insights into the organization’s performance against its financial plans and related financial health.
Support budget creation, budget projections and analysis of income and expenses on a regular basis.
Manage accounts payables and receivables, including accurate and timely processing of bills, deposits, invoice, etc.
Update and implement all necessary business policies and accounting practices; improve the finance department’s overall policy and procedure manual.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree, with emphasis in Finance, Business with an emphasis in accounting, or a related field preferred. Associate’s degree with commensurate experience may be acceptable.
Previous experience as an accountant, accounting supervisor, or manager.
Excellent computer skills; experience in accounting software, Microsoft Office Suite.
Proficiency with accounting software and experience with software implementation a plus (QuickBooks).
Knowledge of finance, accounting, budgeting, cost accounting and cost control principles, and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with strict attention to detail.
Advanced knowledge of bookkeeping and accounting best practices, laws, standards, and state/national regulations.
Ability to manage employees while multi-tasking.
