Job Summary
Engage Armament is seeking an experienced and motivated Full-Time Gunsmith to join our growing team. The ideal candidate is a skilled craftsman with experience in firearm repair, customization, machining, and assembly who takes pride in producing high-quality work. This role requires proficiency operating manual mills and lathes, threading barrels, building and troubleshooting AR-platform rifles, and familiarity with AK-pattern firearms. Responsibilities also include inspecting and cleaning firearms, evaluating used guns for resale, performing custom gunsmithing, repairs, fitment, and diagnostics, as well as assisting with Cerakote applications and light welding projects. The successful candidate will possess the majority of their own professional gunsmithing hand tools, demonstrate strong problem-solving abilities, be eager to learn new techniques, and contribute creative ideas that help expand the shop's capabilities and custom offerings. Responsibilities
- As a Gunsmith at Engage Armament, you will:
- Perform general gunsmithing services, repairs, and maintenance on a wide range of firearms.
- Operate manual milling machines and engine lathes safely and accurately.
- Thread and chamber barrels to precise specifications.
- Build, assemble, and troubleshoot AR-platform rifles.
- Diagnose, repair, and service AK-platform firearms and be familiar with their design and operation.
- Clean, inspect, and evaluate used firearms for resale.
- Perform custom installations, modifications, and precision fitment of firearm components.
- Troubleshoot mechanical and functional issues to ensure reliability and safety.
- Assist with custom firearm builds and customer-specific projects.
- Learn and perform Cerakote application (training provided).
- Perform basic welding and fabrication as needed for custom projects and repairs.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
- Stay current on industry trends, products, and gunsmithing techniques.
- Collaborate with the team to develop new products, services, and creative custom firearm concepts.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will have:
- Previous gunsmithing experience in a professional environment or equivalent training.
- Experience operating manual mills and lathes.
- Experience threading firearm barrels.
- Strong knowledge of the AR-15/M16 platform.
- Working knowledge of AK-pattern rifles.
- Experience diagnosing and repairing firearm malfunctions.
- Ability to perform precision fitting and custom gunsmithing work.
- Basic welding and fabrication skills.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and attention to detail.
- Excellent problem-solving abilities.
- A willingness to learn new techniques and expand your skill set.
- The ability to work independently while contributing to a team environment.
- Creativity and an interest in developing innovative firearm builds and custom projects.
- Commitment to producing high-quality workmanship and excellent customer service.
- Possess the majority of your own professional gunsmithing hand tools. Specialty shop equipment and machinery are provided by Engage Armament.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Cerakote or other firearm finishing systems (not required; training available).
- Experience with TIG welding, machining, or other advanced fabrication techniques.
- Knowledge of NFA firearms, suppressors, and precision rifle systems.
- Previous retail firearms industry experience.
