Ductwork/Sheet Metal Fabricator
Young Plumbing & Heating has an opening for a full-time Ductwork/Sheet Metal Fabricator. This position will work with our current fabrication team on a diverse range of tasks to fabricate and assemble ductwork and sheet metal products used in the heating, ventilating, and air conditioning industry. This Ductwork/Sheet Metal Fabricator will perform tasks that involve physical labor and assembly at our air-conditioned fabrication shop in Waterloo. The position will require skilled use of hand and power tools, a plasma cutting table, and various machinery to cut, form, bend, edge, and roll sheets of sheet metal into shapes used to make ductwork. Although galvanized sheet metal is primarily used, occasionally aluminum, stainless steel, and carbon steel is processed. This position requires someone fully capable of working with high accuracy while adhering to extremely high safety standards. Responsibilities
· Read and interpret shop instructions to be followed in the construction or assembly of sheet metal products
· Operate a plasma table and perform basic fabrication, sometimes including cutting, grinding, drilling, shearing, bending and fitting-up
· Work closely with co-workers to determine shop output needs and scheduling of daily work
· Perform duct fitting assembly
· Keep machinery and equipment maintained and fully operational
· Ensure the working environment is clean and safe
· Always have a good attitude and take pride in your work
· Be able to lift at least 50 pounds
· Be willing to learn constantly and adapt to changing industry processes
· Be excited about becoming an integral member of an already-great team
Preferred Skills and Experience
· Proficient use of hand and power brakes, shears, automated plasma table (will provide training), pin welder, roll formers, drill press, band saw and other forming equipment specific to HVAC ductwork fabrication
· Welding and fork truck experience are beneficial, but not required
· Effective communication skills
· Basic computer skills for entering data into the plasma table and shop drawing interpretation (training will be provided)
· Basic math skills
