About the Role
As an Ultrasound Technologist (Sonographer), you are the primary resource for the technical performance of ultrasound examinations. You will operate advanced ultrasound equipment to capture diagnostic images, perform measurements, identify abnormalities, and provide valuable information that assists physicians in diagnosing and monitoring patient conditions.
You'll work directly with patients while combining technical expertise, strong anatomy knowledge, and exceptional patient care skills to deliver accurate and timely diagnostic imaging services.
Success in this role requires attention to detail, strong communication skills, critical thinking, and the ability to produce high-quality studies in fast-paced healthcare environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform diagnostic ultrasound examinations in accordance with physician orders
- Conduct abdominal, obstetric, gynecological, and vascular ultrasound studies
- Capture high-quality diagnostic images for interpretation
- Take precise measurements and document findings accurately
- Identify and recognize anatomical abnormalities and abnormalities requiring physician review
- Evaluate image quality and ensure examinations meet diagnostic standards
- Explain procedures and provide compassionate patient care throughout examinations
- Collaborate with physicians, radiologists, and healthcare teams
- Maintain imaging documentation and patient records
- Follow department protocols, patient safety guidelines, and infection prevention standards
- Ensure proper operation and maintenance of ultrasound equipment
Minimum Qualifications
- Active license or certification as required by state and facility
- ARDMS or CCI certification required
- Minimum of 2 years of recent ultrasound modality experience
- Strong knowledge of ultrasound imaging techniques and anatomy
- Ability to work independently and adapt quickly to new healthcare environments
- Excellent communication and patient care skills
