Full Job Description

Title: Cleaning Supervisor

Department: Housekeeping / Operations
Position Reports To: Cleaning Manager
Status: Part-Time
Date Revised: July 2026
Exempt: Non-Exempt (Hourly)

I. General Summary

The Cleaning Supervisor assists the Cleaning Manager in maintaining a clean, safe, and welcoming environment throughout SCHEELS Arena. This hands-on leadership position is responsible for supervising housekeeping staff during assigned shifts while actively working alongside the team. The ideal candidate is dependable, detail-oriented, and thrives in a fast-paced event environment

II. Principal Duties and Responsibilities

Facility Cleanliness & Maintenance

Assist in maintaining all areas of SCHEELS Arena in a clean, safe, and presentable condition.
Perform custodial duties including sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, restroom sanitation, trash removal, and other general cleaning tasks.
Ensure restrooms remain clean, stocked, and guest-ready throughout events.
Assist with exterior maintenance, including snow and ice removal when needed.
Support Cleaning Manager with cleaning duties as assigned.
Ensure proper handling and storage of cleaning chemicals while following OSHA and safety guidelines.

Leadership & Supervision

Supervise part-time housekeeping staff during assigned shifts.
Assign daily work responsibilities and ensure tasks are completed to established standards.
Assist the Cleaning Manager with training, coaching, and onboarding new employees.
Monitor employee performance and provide constructive feedback.
Serve as the primary point of contact for housekeeping staff when the Cleaning Manager is unavailable.
Lead by example by actively participating in daily cleaning duties.

Supplies & Equipment

Monitor inventory levels of cleaning supplies and notify the Cleaning Manager when replenishment is needed.
Ensure all cleaning equipment is operated safely and maintained in good working condition.
Report damaged equipment or facility maintenance concerns promptly.

Event Support & Operations

Work closely with the Cleaning Manager and Operations Department to prepare the arena for events.
Assist with event and post-event cleaning.
Respond to cleaning requests and emergencies during events.
Complete additional duties as assigned.

III. Background

Supervision

This position assists in supervising part-time housekeeping staff and works closely with the Cleaning Manager to ensure housekeeping operations meet SCHEELS Arena standards.

Customer Service

Although primarily a housekeeping role, this position requires professionalism and courteous interaction with guests, staff, vendors, and event personnel.

Mental Application

This role requires strong organizational skills, attention to detail, leadership abilities, sound judgment, and the ability to prioritize multiple tasks in a fast-paced event environment.

Magnitude and Scope

The Cleaning Supervisor directly impacts the overall guest experience by ensuring the facility remains clean, safe, and event-ready.

IV. Conditions and Equipment

Working Conditions

This is a hands-on, on-site position requiring active participation in daily cleaning operations.
Ability to communicate effectively with staff, supervisors, and guests.
Flexible availability, including evenings, weekends, holidays, and occasional overnight shifts based on the event schedule.
Ability to work in various indoor and outdoor weather conditions when necessary.

Equipment Operations

Requires the ability to safely operate:

Vacuums
Floor scrubbers
Buffers
Pressure washers
Mops and other custodial equipment
Standard cleaning chemicals and equipment

V. Specifications

Education

High School Diploma or G.E.D. preferred.

A combination of education and custodial or housekeeping experience will be considered.

Qualifications

Previous custodial, housekeeping, or facility maintenance experience preferred.
Previous supervisory or leadership experience preferred.
Knowledge of cleaning equipment and chemicals.
Ability to lift, push, and pull up to 50 pounds.
Must be at least 18 years of age.

VI. Essential Functions

Supervise and support housekeeping staff during assigned shifts.
Perform custodial duties while maintaining high cleanliness standards.
Ensure work is completed safely, efficiently, and according to established procedures.
Train and mentor employees as directed by the Cleaning Manager.
Communicate effectively with staff and management.
Stand, walk, bend, lift, and perform physical labor for extended periods.
Work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, holidays, and overnight shifts based on event schedules.
