We are growing again! We are currently looking for the PAWFECT fit to join our award winning, nationally recognized, business of 30 years at Wagging Tails Pet Resort & Spaws third and newest location at 280 Hartford Ave Newington CT
Of course part of the job requirement is to LOVE animals. That's the easy part.
But, are you able to bend, run, and lift 50+ lbs? Are you organized? Do you like to clean?
This is a physical job, demanding attention to detail, reliability, communication, respect and hard work.
Sure we get to play with dogs! But the job also includes cleaning (a lot!), scooping, bathing, feeding, medicating pets and more. The sanitation of our facility is up to the staff here. And we have extremely high standards to meet. So, if you are looking for a job where you think you can sit and play with pets all day, that is NOT the reality of pet care professionals.
The pets that we are entrusted to care for are our responsibility. A HUGE responsibility. Pets are perhaps our clients most prized possessions, and most important family members. We care for them and treat them the same! Our clients want to go on their much needed vacations and relax while knowing their pets are having a blast and are in excellent care at Wagging Tails.
So, cleaning, brushing, more cleaning, providing excellent customer service, following standard operating procedures and policies is a MUST here at Wagging Tails.
If you have previous pet care experience, great. But know that we will train you to OUR standards and expectation. We do require previous pet care experience. This does NOT include having your own pet. This means that if you have previously worked at another facility, or are certified in grooming or training, feel free to complete an application on our website. We DO check references and verify previous pet care employment. We DO criminal background checks and drug testing.
We operate from 630am to 800pm, 7 days a week. We have various shifts available to work. And we often rotate weekends.
In addition, we have OVERNIGHT shifts, where staff SLEEP with our overnight canine guests. If you are interested in applying for an overnight shift, please communicate that to our management.
An outgoing personality is necessary for interaction with the public who will be visiting. Experience with large groups of dogs, knowing behaviors, animal care experience is a must!
You must be able to work with both cats AND dogs. You must be able to handle little Chihuahuas to Great Danes. Pomeranians to Pit bulls. All pets, any size and ANY disposition, you must be able to handle professionally and properly.
Be ready to get dirty, furry and yes, to have fun, and meet some great pets.
A positive, can do, team effort, friendly, helpful, disposition with an attention to detail is a necessity here at Wagging Tails.
Most holidays are required. Your own, reliable transportation is required.
We often hold or attend fundraising events. Attendance is required at these events.
We offer team building events, staff meetings, parties, continuing education and pet care training.
Paid time off and bonuses are earned by appropriate individuals. They are not standard here.
*If you are applying for a kennel attendant position, please know that we do NOT allow your personal cell phones, ear buds or smart watches on you while in the building. We provide cell phone lockers, or they are to be left at home, or in your car. If you cannot separate yourself from your phone, then this isn't the job for you. AND we do not allow smoking anywhere on property. So if you cannot work a 4 to 6 hour shift without smoking, this isn't the job for you. Alcohol, vaping, drug use of any kind is all prohibited on property. We require your 100% focus to be on your job and the pets in your care.*
