NEEDS APPROVAL FROM COMPENSATION TO BE POSTED. This position provides the technical functions associated with the warehousing and delivery of system wide pharmacy services for the Main Hospital, Clinics and Mail Order operations. This is accomplished through the fulfillment of high volume orders, by maintaining proper stock levels in multiple pharmacy locations, compounding or otherwise preparing, filling, pricing, and delivering pharmaceuticals or other related items. The incumbent may perform duties such as receiving and breaking down large shipments from the manufacturer, operating and maintaining automated robotic systems, preparing and packaging orders for mail or central distribution, maintaining pharmacy records and providing all aspects of customer service that are required to provide Pharmacy Department services. This position completes the essential functions of the job under the direct supervision of a Pharmacist. As a System Fulfillment Pharmacy Technician II, this position provides advanced services such as maintenance of automated robotic systems and narcotic coordination. Incumbents are expected to plan, coordinate, and implement training programs for other staff. A System Fulfillment Pharmacy Technician II has a higher level of responsibility for departmental and organizational problem solving.

Responsibilities

Essential Functions

Assists the pharmacist in advanced tasks associated with patient care.
Effectively manages large scale supplies of the department.
Troubleshoots the automated robotic systems used for the request and delivery of pharmaceutical products in the warehouse.
Problem solves operational issues within the department and organization related to the medication use process.
Assists in education and training of staff and other trainees.

Knowledge / Skills / Abilities

Ability to perform the essential functions of the job as outlined above.
Ability to provide care appropriate to the population served.
Familiarity with medical terminology.
Technical aptitude which can be applied to the operation of the automated robotic systems and multiple software systems
Challenges encountered may include problem solving for operation and maintenance of all automated systems in the Pharmacy Department.
May determine options from a variety of pre-established departmental policies and procedures, but cannot act outside of these unless authorized to do so by a Pharmacist.
May vary work routines according to patient care priorities.
Performing the essential duties of this position will involve standing for extended periods of time and/or handling heavy or bulky supply containers.
Knowledge and ability to perform mathematical calculations for extemporaneous compounding and special dose preparation, rectifying drug distribution errors, reconciling billing and administration records, etc.

Qualifications

Required

Current Pharmacy Technician licensure in the State of Utah.
6 months experience as a Licensed Pharmacy Technician.

Licenses Required

Current Pharmacy Technician licensure in the State of Utah.

This position involves manual work that may exert up to 50 pounds and may consistently require work involving repetitive motions, lifting, bending, carrying, pushing, pulling or otherwise moving objects. This position is exposed to a low frequency hum which may require ear protection. This position involves standing for extended periods of time and is not exposed to adverse environmental conditions.
