Full Job Description

Family Solutions Practice Management is looking to hire a Speech-Language Pathologist (CCC) to work with children/adolescents at our new Autism Clinic, located at 1300 Hudson Lane in Monroe, LA.

SUMMARY:

The Speech-Language Pathologist conducts speech therapy evaluations and treatment of communication, cognitive, and swallowing disorders to enhance ability to communicate basic needs, to function cognitively at a maximal level, and to consume oral nutrition safely in the least restrictive manner. The Speech Pathologist is responsible for working with other healthcare professionals and family members to educate and to assist patient in maximizing functional abilities following a life altering illness or disability.

Services for this position will be provided as a comprehensive array of services for children who are either developmentally disabled or on the autism spectrum, and will be provided in coordination with Occupational Therapy, Physical Therapy, and Applied Behavioral Analysis services in an ABA clinic atmosphere.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Under the direction of a licensed physician, the therapist develops and implements patient treatment consistent with the objectives of the interdisciplinary treatment plan by performing comprehensive assessments, establishing realistic and measurable short and long term goals, and initiating appropriate actions based upon evaluation ﬁndings.

2. The therapist implements appropriate treatment techniques to maximize patient function, promote healing and adjustment of disability.

3. Adapts conventional therapy techniques to meet the needs of patient. Adaptations are based on the patients’ and families’ physical and cognitive capabilities, intelligence level, interests, and discharge plans.

4. Provides patient care in a safe and therapeutic environment by maintaining the privacy of the patients and families.

5. Provides education to the patients and family members from admission to discharge by providing individualized instructions to maximize function.

6. On date of session, documents patients’ evaluation progress, interim assessments, and discharge summaries with updated goals. Updates, modiﬁes, and prioritizes goals based on evaluations and re-evaluation of ﬁndings. Documenting through EHR for daily SOAP notes and through ﬂow chart in soft chart system.Initial evaluations to be completed within 48 hours of assessment and re-evaluations to be completed within 24 hours of assessment, unless otherwise agreed upon with director of occupational therapy.

7. Independently plans and arranges for patient discharges through communication with the interdisciplinary team; discharges patients with appropriate home programs and referrals to other health care professionals.

8. Demonstrates competency and knowledge of current standards of practice within the profession.

9. Recognizes limitations and makes appropriate referrals to other therapists or health care professions.

10. Participates in staff and intern orientation/training.

11. Securing liability insurance.

12. Engages in continuous quality improvement activities to evaluate compliance to standards, policies and procedures, and identiﬁes strategies to improve patient care.

13. Maintains patient conﬁdentiality by keeping information private as described by HIPAA standards.

14. Completes at least the minimum supervision requirements for up to two SLPA’s, while also maintaining caseload of clients and new evaluations.

15. Maintains a working knowledge of all Family Solutions services and capabilities offered to the community.

16. Exceed the expectations of patients, their families, co-workers by consistently doing the right thing, at the right time, for the right reason.

Supervision can be of SLPA’s and/or interns/students of a SLP program or SLPA program.

CERTIFICATIONS

Currently licensed as a Speech Language Pathologist with Certificate of Clinical Competence in the State of Louisiana

EDUCATION/TRAINING/EXPERIENCE:

1. Masters Degree in Accredited Speech Therapy Program.

2. Maintains current licensure in the State of Louisiana.

3. Must maintain all certiﬁcations required through state and national agencies.

4. CPR Certiﬁcation required within 30 days of hire.

5. CCC is required.
