Full Job Description

We're changing how customer support works at Vista Social, and we're looking for one person to lead that change.

The traditional model is well understood: a support org grows by adding headcount. Tier 1 handles volume, tier 2 handles complexity, and eventually you build out dedicated specialists — someone who owns billing edge cases, someone who owns the integrations queue, someone who's the go-to on mobile. It works, but it's slow to build, expensive to staff, and every new product surface means another hire, another ramp cycle, another handoff.

We want to try something different. Instead of a support org staffed by product-area specialists, we want one person who can build and run the systems — AI-driven triage, drafting, and resolution — that do the work those specialist teams used to do, and who has the judgment to know when a system's output is good enough to send and when it isn't.

This isn't a support manager role. You won't be hiring and managing a floor of reps. You'll be building the infrastructure that handles support at scale, and acting as the final quality check on everything that goes out.

What we're looking for

Someone who can look at an AI-drafted response and instantly know whether it's good enough to send, or exactly where it falls short. That kind of judgment isn't about following a script — it comes from actually understanding customers, the product, and where the two create friction.

Someone who treats "automate it" as a starting point, not an endpoint — who builds a workflow, watches where it breaks, and fixes it, rather than setting it up once and walking away.

This is not "turn on a chatbot and check in occasionally." We need someone who can actually build the thing — AI agents that triage incoming tickets, draft responses, and resolve the ones they're confident about, with the judgment coded in to know when to hand off to a human instead. That means real hands-on experience configuring, training, and iterating on AI support tooling, not just using it as an end user.

Someone comfortable making the call on tradeoffs — when a fast automated reply beats a slower human one, when an edge case needs to be escalated instead of resolved by a bot, when a policy needs to bend for a specific customer — without needing a meeting to sign off on it.

Someone who owns outcomes end to end. Not just email, not just chat, not just the escalation queue — all of it, from strategy down to the exact wording of what gets sent.

What matters here

Build and keep rebuilding the system. Not a chatbot you turn on once and leave alone — an evolving set of AI agents that triage tickets, draft responses, and resolve the ones they can handle on their own, plus the workflows that route everything else to the right channel or the right person. A knowledge base that keeps pace with the product instead of trailing six months behind it. None of this is "set it up and move on" work — it's a system you're actively iterating on every week, and the goal is for resolution quality and speed to keep climbing without you touching every single ticket by hand.

Hold the line on quality. When something goes out that's tone-deaf, wrong, or just mediocre, catching it isn't enough — the fix has to go back into the system so it doesn't happen again. That feedback loop, more than any individual response, is the actual job.

Support strategy and the quality bar across every channel — chat, email, social, in-app
The AI systems that triage, draft, and resolve tickets, and the logic for when something escalates to a human
The Help Center and knowledge base, built to keep pace with the product
Escalations and high-value accounts
The feedback loop from support back into product — surfacing bugs, friction points, and patterns worth fixing upstream
Final say on quality — nothing goes out, automated or otherwise, unless it clears your bar

Why now

Vista Social is growing fast, and support is one of the clearest signals we have of whether the product is actually working for the people using it. This role has direct access to the context — product data, account history, past conversations — needed to build support systems that actually know the customer, rather than generic ones bolted on after the fact.

There's no fixed org chart to fit into, and no ceiling on how far this role can go — in scope or in compensation — based on the results you produce.

We're not screening for a specific background, degree, or years of experience. We care about two things: whether you can build systems that hold up at scale, and whether your judgment about what's good is sharp enough to trust. If you can show us both, the rest is negotiable — including the title.
