The Bakery by Lessing’s is seeking a talented, detail-oriented Cake Decorator / Pastry Assistant to join our growing team. We specialize in luxury wedding cakes and high-end desserts for some of South Florida’s premier wedding venues. We’re looking for someone who is passionate about cake artistry, takes pride in craftsmanship, and thrives in a fast-paced production environment.
Job Duties and Responsibilities Include:
- Decorate wedding cakes using smooth buttercream finishes and sharp edges.
- Execute a variety of piping techniques, textures, and modern cake finishes.
- Apply fresh flowers, sugar flowers, fondant accents, metallic details, and other decorative elements.
- Assist with stacking, doweling, and preparing cakes for safe transport.
- Produce desserts and pastries according to company recipes and quality standards.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary workstation.
- Work efficiently to meet production schedules and event deadlines.
- Collaborate with the Executive Pastry Chef and bakery team to ensure every cake meets luxury presentation standards.
Qualifications
- Previous experience decorating cakes in a bakery, pastry shop, or similar environment.
- Strong buttercream skills are required.
- Experience working with fondant, gum paste, and sugar flowers is a plus.
- Excellent attention to detail and commitment to consistency.
- Ability to work independently while also contributing to a team.
- Comfortable lifting up to 50 pounds and standing for extended periods.
- Ability to remain calm and organized in a high-volume production kitchen.
- Weekend availability is required due to wedding production schedules.
