Full Job Description

THE POSITION

This position as a Clerical Assistant 2 with the Department of Human Services' Montgomery County Assistance Office offers a chance to make every day meaningful by supporting important office operations. This role lets you contribute to a team that helps people across the Commonwealth. You will enjoy steady work, a supportive environment, and clear purpose. DESCRIPTION OF WORK

This position plays a key part in keeping office processes organized and accurate. The work supports clients, staff, and overall office operations. As a Clerical Assistant 2, you will perform the following duties:

Document Scanning: Scan and adjust electronic images to ensure they are correctly attached and shared
Data Entry: Input information into automated systems with care and precision
Record Management: File, organize, and purge case records according to established schedules
Visitor Support: Greet visitors, gather needed information, and direct them to the correct staff member
Mail Handling: Review, sort, and distribute mail, printouts, and messages to the appropriate location
General Office Tasks: Carry out typing, word processing, and other required clerical duties

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

Seasonal full-time employment, 37.5 hours per week.
- This is a full-time, seasonal position that typically runs for 6-8 months during the fall and winter seasons to assist clients in the process of applying for heating assistance.
Work hours are 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 1-hour lunch.
Travel and overtime as needed.
Work Conditions: Assigned duties are performed in a controlled office environment. In counties with District Offices, employees may be reassigned to different work sites due to operational needs. Reassignments will be made in compliance with contract language.
Telework: This position may be eligible to telework part time. Specific details of the telework schedule will be discussed during the interview process. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Norristown, PA. The ability to telework is subject to change at any time.
Salary: Selected candidates who are new to employment within the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting hourly salary of $18.83 (before taxes).

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

Six months as a Clerical Assistant 1 (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or
Graduation from high school; or
An equivalent combination of experience and training.

Hiring preference for this vacancy will be given to candidates who live within Montgomery County. If no eligible candidates who live within Montgomery County apply for this position candidates who reside in other counties may be considered.
You must be able to perform essential job functions.
