Activities Assistant, Forensic Unit *Union position – governed by a Collective Bargaining Agreement

Job Type: Fulltime, Nonexempt

Schedule: Mountain View Unit, 8:30am - 5:00pm week 1 Sunday, Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, week 2 Monday 11:30am - 8:00pm, 8:30am - 5:00pm Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday, alternating Eow

Valley Springs Behavioral Health Hospital offers compassionate, high-quality inpatient and outpatient mental health and co-occurring treatment for teens, adults, and seniors. We provide a full-range of evidence-based medical and clinical services in a state-of-the-art healing environment. Programs include inpatient mental health and co-occurring treatment, Partial Hospitalization Programs (PHP), and Intensive Outpatient Programs (IOP).

How you’ll contribute

The Activities Assistant supports the therapeutic programming and daily operations of the department by facilitating structured activity groups and documenting patient participation and progress. This role works closely with the Activity Therapist to deliver interventions aligned with individualized treatment plans, including providing alternative activities when patients are unable to attend groups. The assistant monitors patient responses, communicates concerns, and contributes feedback to the interdisciplinary team to support effective treatment planning. Responsibilities also include offering age-appropriate activities, promoting patient engagement, and maintaining consistent communication to ensure quality, patient-centered care.

What we’re looking for

Applicants should have

High School Diploma/GED required.
Bachelor's degree in recreational therapy or equivalent preferred.
CPR/BLS certification and Handle with Care within 30 days.

Hourly range: $17.50 – $28.75 per hour
