Full Job Description

*****This position is for Taylor County*****

Position Summary:

The SART Coordinator performs a variety of duties involved in providing support and advocacy for the rights and protection of victims of stalking. domestic violence. sexual assault, dating violence. and human trafficking.

Principal Duties & Responsibilities

Advocate for victims. witnesses of sexual assault, domestic violence, stalking. incest. child abuse. human trafficking and other crimes of violence by working with the Prosecuting Attorney, Law Enforcement and other agencies to provide a Coordinated Community Response.
Keep victims/witnesses informed of their rights and the status of their cases.
Facilitate initial interviews for victims/witnesses with the police, Prosecuting Attorney. and WVU Title IX office.
Network with other agencies to serve clients comprehensively. Assist in developing and maintaining good working relationships with other agencies.
Conduct intake interviews with clients; provide crisis intervention. counseling and advocacy to victims through the 24-hour hotline.
Provide backup and mentoring to volunteers.
Assist clients in making application for DHHR benefits. housing. legal assistance, job services. social services and medical care. Provide transportation when necessary.
Provide advocacy and emotional support to victims/witnesses during trial and other court proceedings. Act as a liaison with the judicial system. Provide for victim safety to and from court proceedings.
Keep appropriate records of services provided.
Increase awareness of RDVIC services and issues through speaking engagements. the provision of training. and the distribution of printed materials. Provide support groups as needed.
Provide a comprehensive monthly report to the Executive Director.
Other duties as assigned by the Executive Director.

General:

Understand and abide by RDVIC’s Confidentiality Policy at all times and respect boundaries.
Attend all scheduled staff meetings and residential case conferences to provide and receive input for program development.
Attend a minimum of 8 hours of training of approved victim service training a year.
Assist with training and supervision of volunteers and interns.
Complete special projects and presentations as requested.
Complete other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience (Qualifications)

- One-year minimum experience providing crisis intervention, victim advocacy, or working with volunteers.

- Ability to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing.

- Ability to work independently, in a self-motivated manner, and also as part of a team.

- Ability to work with diverse individuals and groups.

- A valid driver's license and a working. insured vehicle required.

- Bachelor's Degree in a Human Services field required

- Master's Degree preferred.

- Combination of work experience and education may be considered equivalent.
