Production Reliability Engineer

Lake Charles, LA

Salary: $115,000 – $125,000

Overview

Our client is a global specialty chemical manufacturer seeking a Production Reliability Engineer to identify and implement improvements across manufacturing processes. This role works cross-functionally with operations, maintenance, and administrative teams to increase capacity, reduce cost, and improve safety and quality. The ideal candidate will lead capital projects from concept through commissioning and leverage process improvement methodologies — including Lean Six Sigma — to drive measurable results.

Key Responsibilities

Track operating performance and product quality; identify causes of departure from standard and initiate corrective actions
Troubleshoot existing processes to improve operating efficiency
Identify and implement process and procedure improvements to increase capacity, reduce cost, and improve safety and quality
Provide technical coverage for plant trials and startups
Write operating procedures and provide training for chemical operators
Propose changes in programming logic to improve process safety, quality, or production efficiency
Develop in-depth expertise on process equipment including reactors, agitators, heat exchangers, pumps, and filters
Lead or participate in PPA, JSA, and PHA teams
Develop PFDs, P&IDs, and mass and energy balances for modified processes
Develop project scopes and lead capital projects through full lifecycle — from design to commissioning and startup
Specify new process equipment; work with vendors and operations on selection
Lead mechanical predictive maintenance program
Perform data and statistical analysis to support sound processing decisions
Provide relief coverage for supervision in production units

Qualifications

Education & Experience

BS degree in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering or a closely related engineering disciplined REQUIRED
5–7 years of chemical plant experience
Experience with mechanical equipment design, troubleshooting, function, and reliability

Detail-oriented with high accuracy in task execution
Proven ability to work effectively in a team environment
Self-motivated with strong initiative and problem-solving ability
Organized, with a systematic approach to managing complex tasks
