Sub Assembly Technician

Department: Sub Assembly
Job Level: 2–4
Division/Location: Westminster, SC
Job Status: Full-Time, Exempt
Reports To: Small (Sub) Assembly Supervisor

$18.00-$20.00

Monday – Friday 7:00 – 3:30

Summary

The Sub Assembly Technician plays a vital role in the production process by assembling smaller components, known as subassemblies, that are essential to the final product. These subassemblies may include electronic components, mechanical systems, or packaged goods, depending on customer and project requirements. Working in a manufacturing environment, the technician uses specialized tools, equipment, and standardized work methods to complete tasks accurately, safely, and efficiently. Depending on project complexity and production demands, the Sub Assembly Technician may work independently or as part of a team. Their contributions are critical to ensuring all products meet quality standards, meet customer expectations, and company specifications.

Key Responsibilities

Assembly Operations: Assemble parts and subassemblies independently and collaboratively according to engineering drawings, print specifications, and standardized work instructions.
Safety Compliance: Follow and actively promote all safety policies, procedures, and guidelines to maintain a safe work environment.
Attendance and Reliability: Maintain excellent attendance and consistently report to work on time.
Quality Assurance: Perform required inspections and quality checks to ensure products meet all quality and specification requirements.
5S Workplace Organization: Maintain a clean, organized, and efficient work area in accordance with 5S principles.
Continuous Improvement: Participate in process improvement initiatives and support efforts to improve safety, quality, and productivity.
Team Collaboration: Communicate effectively with supervisors and team members to ensure production goals and customer requirements are achieved.

Education, Experience, and Skills

Education

High School Diploma or GED required.

Experience

1–2 years of assembly or manufacturing experience preferred.

Functional Skills

Blueprint & Instruction Interpretation: Ability to read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and standardized work instructions.
Measurement Skills: Proficient in using measuring instruments such as tape measures, calipers, and other precision tools.
Computer Skills: Basic computer proficiency for data entry, production reporting, and accessing electronic work instructions.
Tool Proficiency: Experience using hand tools, power tools, pneumatic tools, grinders, hammers, and wrenches.
Mechanical Aptitude: Strong mechanical aptitude with attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work.
Physical Requirements: Ability to stand, walk, bend, lift, and perform repetitive tasks for extended periods (8–10 hours per shift). Ability to safely lift up to 50 pounds, with or without reasonable accommodation.
Forklift Experience: Forklift certification or experience is preferred and may be required depending on job assignment.
Communication & Teamwork: Ability to work effectively both independently and in a team-oriented environment while maintaining a positive attitude.

Pay: $18.00 - $20.00 per hour
