Overview:
We are seeking a bookkeeper/accountant with a strong work ethic and high standards for excellence to join our family office in Metairie, LA. The ideal candidate is a self-starter who is disciplined and able to work independently while maintaining a high level of professionalism. This role offers an opportunity to contribute to our financial operations and make a significant impact.
Responsibilities (included, but not limited to):
● Prepare accounting records and financial statements for partnerships, trusts, and other
entities, including complex financial reports (statements, footnotes, and supplemental
information).
● Prepare a wide range of income tax returns, including personal, corporate, and
partnership filings.
● Maintain the general ledger system, including the chart of accounts, and manage
monthly closings (journal entries and financial statements).
● Reconcile bank accounts monthly.
● Create reports and analysis as requested by executive management.
● Manage accounting, financial, and tax reporting, ensuring timely preparation, review, and
approval of accounts payable, bank reconciliations, financial statements, liquidity
forecasts, and annual budgets.
● Oversee invoices, bills, contracts, and payroll services.
● Handle ad hoc projects as assigned.
● Develop tax projections, scenario modeling, and other analyses using our tax software.
● Research federal and state income, payroll, and sales tax issues.
Qualifications:
● Minimum of 3 years of experience in accounting and bookkeeping.
● Extensive experience and proficiency with QuickBooks (online and desktop versions),
including payroll, accounts payable, account reconciliations, and journal entries.
● Understanding and experience with payroll tax processing and federal/state payroll
return preparation (e.g., W-2, TWC, 941).
● Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, and Outlook).
● Excellent verbal and interpersonal communication skills, with the ability to present a
professional image in person and over the phone.
● Strong organizational skills, with the ability to set priorities and meet deadlines while
working independently.
