The Opportunity:

Whittier Street Health Center is seeking a part-time Ophthalmologist (20 hours per week) to join our eye care team. In this role, you will provide comprehensive ophthalmology care, diagnose and treat a wide range of eye conditions, and collaborate with our multidisciplinary team while supporting our mission to advance health equity and provide high-quality, patient-centered care to Boston’s diverse communities.

Key Responsibilities:

Perform comprehensive eye examinations and evaluate, diagnose, and manage ocular diseases and disorders.
Develop individualized treatment plans and provide patient education on eye health, disease prevention, and treatment options.
Perform ophthalmology procedures and treatments, including laser procedures and minor surgical interventions as appropriate.
Prescribe medications, corrective lenses, and other ophthalmologic therapies.
Evaluate and manage conditions including cataracts, glaucoma, diabetic eye disease, and other vision-related concerns.
Collaborate with optometrists, clinical staff, and other healthcare professionals to coordinate patient care.
Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the electronic medical record system.
Support quality, safety, and patient-centered care standards within the Vision Services department.

Requirements:

Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) degree with completion of an accredited Ophthalmology residency program.
Board Certified or Board Eligible in Ophthalmology.
Current Massachusetts medical license, or ability to obtain prior to start date.
Current BLS certification, or ability to obtain before start date.
Clinical experience providing ophthalmology services in an outpatient setting preferred.
Strong clinical judgment, communication, and patient education skills.
Ability to work effectively with diverse populations and interdisciplinary healthcare teams.
