We have 2 opportunities as we can't keep up with all the tour requests this busy season with our current team:
1. Guide-Driver: Our wonderful guides drive the shuttle (no special license required, as it's a small 14-passenger shuttle) while sharing the stories behind the unique sights and landmarks we pass and visit.
2. Driver Only: Shuttle driver only (no narration and no special license required, as it's a small 14-passenger shuttle) with a fellow Discover Denver Tours tour guide as the step-on guide, narrating the tour.

Company Description:
Come join us on the Discover Denver Tours (DDT) team. We're a local tour company which launched back in June 2015 with a variety of walking tours, and quickly turned into the #1 walking + bus tour company here in the Mile High City. We're now accepting applications for additional Tour Guides to join the DDT Team as we add bus tours to our tour offerings. This is a long-term, part-time independent contractor position.
Job Summary:
We are looking for 1-2 new amazing driver-guides AND/OR drivers to join our team as we expand our offerings of our 14-passenger shuttle bus tours of Denver's unique sights, landmarks, and the stories behind them.
Tour guides drive the shuttle bus (no CDL required, as it's a small 14-passenger shuttle) while narrating and sharing stories with your guests and passengers. Most tours are 1.5-3.5 hours in length. Guides and drivers operate 1-4 tours a day (your choice on how many tours per day is your maximum).
There are also opportunities to lead walking tours in addition to shuttle bus tours, for any candidates interested in that option.
If you think that you have the knowledge, the skills, and, most importantly, the passion, to lead guests on engaging and fun shuttle bus excursions through the streets of Denver and share the stories behind our Mile High City's top sights, we want to meet you!
All of our guides are independent contractors who are able to lead or drive for tours 1-4+ days each week (about 2-3 hours per tour, including commuting time). There are also opportunities for private tours mornings, afternoons, and evenings 7 days a week.
Guide-Drivers: We are looking for team members who meet most or all of the following criteria:
- Knowledgeable about the city's culture and history (full paid training with tour talking points provided)
- Previous leadership experience
- Previous group management experience
- Passion for leading tours and/or working with groups of people of all ages
- Performance experience (stage, screen, music, improv, comedy, etc.)
- Teaching experience
- Tourism or travel industry experience
- Madly in love with Denver
- Safe driving record
- Availability to lead morning and afternoon shuttle bus tours 1-4 days per week, and/or occasional private tours in the mornings and afternoons at various times.
Guide-Drivers responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Conducting shuttle bus tours in downtown Denver. Our most popular tour is our Discover Denver Tours that take approximately 1.5-2 hours. Our second most popular tour is a 3.5-hour Ultimate Denver Day Out tour.
- Share historically accurate information/stories (from provided talking points) in an entertaining, lively and engaging manner. Stories may include Denver “firsts,” unique/fun facts, grand and other less savory pieces, memorable events of Denver history and more that will keep guests entertained and intrigued.
- Do observational research by taking part in other Discover Denver Tours guides' tours in order to gain insight into the roles and responsibilities of a tour guide and attributes of an excellent tour guide.
- Attend debriefing meetings and/or participate in conference calls with owners, as needed.
- Follow an established paid training and paid professional development work plan
- Begin hosting tours within 4 weeks of hire
- Take photos of each tour group which must include all clients and post photo to DDT Facebook page within 24 hours of tour.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Must be able to read, write, and speak fluent English and be able to project voice so that a large group of people can clearly hear at all times
- Knowledgeable and familiar with Google Calendar, Google Drive, and Google Docs
- Ability to complete work by established deadlines
- Able to lead at least one morning and/or afternoon tour weekly (additional availability is a plus) and be available for occasional daytime and early evening private tours, as needed
- Superb group management skills
- Dedication to outstanding customer service
- Excellent speaking skills, with an ability to relay information to groups in an engaging, unique way
- Knowledge of Denver history, legend/lore, and key Denver tourist attractions is preferred
- Task oriented and highly motivated
- Reliable and timely
- High integrity and confidence
- Ability to work both independently and as a team member
- Exceptional personality
- Must be able to share the stories behind Denver's sights and relay them in an entertaining manner
- Ability to sit for 2+ hours, work safely, and lead/drive groups safely through Denver's Civic Center, LoDo and Capitol Hill areas
Qualifications:
- High School graduate or equivalent is required
- Access to internet and computer
- Knowledge of Microsoft Word, Facebook, and Google Drive for document sharing/collaboration
- Interest and/or knowledge of Denver history is preferred
- Prior performance, teaching, or group leadership experience is preferred
- A clean driving record
- A clean background check
Pay & Benefits for Guide-Drivers:
- This is a long-term independent contractor position.
- Tour guide pay for 1.5-2 hour tours: $60 base pay + tips ($70 + tips for 3-5 guests, $80 + tips for 6-12 guests, an additional $5 for every guest over 13 guests. Most tours do have 4+ guests and many sell out and/or go to waitlist, which is why we're adding additional tours each day).
- $45-$60+ for our one hour tours, plus tips.
Pay & Benefits for Drivers (no guiding/narrating required):
- This is a long-term contractor position.
- Driver pay for each 1.5-2 hour tours: $55 base pay + tips (4-7 guests: $55 + tips; 8-11 guests: $65 + tips and 12-14 guests: $75 + tips. Most tours do have 8+ guests).
