TITLE: Title I Interventionist
REPORTS TO: The person employed as a Title I Interventionist will work with the
building principal and the Federal Programs Director in support of the
approved program. Evaluation of the Title I Interventionist will be
conducted by the school principal.
JOB GOAL: Increase student mastery in Reading/Math
QUALIFICATIONS:
The person employed as Title I Interventionist will possess the following qualifications.
- Elementary Education K-6 or Multi-Subject K-8, Reading Specialist/Math Certification Preferred.
- Valid West Virginia Teaching Certificate with an endorsement in the area of Reading for Early Childhood.
- Experience teaching Reading preferred.
- Any combination of training and experience which would lead to successful employment as a Title I Interventionist.
- Successful completion of the interview which includes the preparation and presentation of a lesson on a given topic.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE POSITION:
The duties and responsibilities of the Title I Reading Teacher will be to:
- Provide professional support to the Title I program, for reading/math improvement especially in the areas of diagnostic-prescriptive individualized planning for participating students; technical advice and assistance to teachers and parents of participating students; and selection, distribution and management of appropriate educational materials in cooperation with teachers and parents of participating students to demonstrate improvement in Reading/Math.
- Participate in the creation of Title I Schoolwide Five Year Online Strategic Plan application for the school and maintain program fidelity with said plan. Maintain and care for Title I equipment and records. Eligibility and participation lists and other pertinent data will be made available and current in each site.
- Plan instruction in cooperation with the classroom teacher and tutors, maximizing in class time and minimizing pull out time and assist with Support for Personalized Learning.
- Evaluate the progress of students on a regular basis and report the results to the classroom teacher and parents using all focus of formative assessments.
- Plan parent involvement activities for parents to participate in the teaching and learning of their children.
- Plan and implement a program of study that includes extended time before and after school and during the summer to meet the individual needs, interests and abilities of the students under reasonable terms.
- Make provisions for being available to students and parents for education related purpose outside the instructional day when required or requested to do so under reasonable terms.
- Attend all Title I meetings and mandatory workshops.
- Create a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of the students.
- Prepare for instruction and show written evidence of preparation upon request of the principal.
- Encourage students to set and maintain standards of classroom behavior.
- Guide the learning process toward the achievement of curriculum goals. In harmony with the goals, establish clear objectives for all lessons, units, and projects, and communicate these objectives to students.
- Employ a variety of instructional techniques and instructional technology, consistent with the physical limitations of the location provided and the needs and capabilities of the individual or student groups involved.
- Maintain accurate, complete and correct records as required by law, county policy, and administrative regulation.
- Assist the administration in implementing all policies and/or rules governing student life and conduct, and, for the classroom, develop reasonable rules of classroom behavior and procedure, and maintain order in the classroom in a fair and just manner.
- Maintain professional competence through professional development activities provided by Ohio County Schools, including but not limited to: study groups, PLC's, book studies, conferences and workshops.
- Foster a classroom climate conducive to learning.
- Serve on staff committees as required.
- Utilize instructional management systems which increase student learning and maximize time on task.
- Monitor student progress towards learning objectives and assist grade level educators with benchmarking and progress monitoring.
- Promote and maintain positive pupil-teacher-parent relationships.
- Maintain professional work habits.
- Perform other duties assigned by the Principal, Federal Programs Director, Assistant Superintendent or Superintendent.
