Full Job Description

Job Summary:

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Kitchen Manager/Lead Line Cook to join our team in the culinary department. As a Kitchen Manager/Head Chef, you will be responsible for meal preparation, menu planning, inventory, ordering, and ensuring high-quality food service. This is an exciting opportunity to work in a fast-paced environment within the food industry.

Cooking: Working the line multiple nights per week.
Staff Management: Hiring, training, scheduling, and supervising kitchen staff including cooks, and food preparation workers.
Menu Planning & Creation: Collaborating with cooks, to create menus, recipes, determining food costs, and ensuring the availability of ingredients.
Inventory and Ordering: Monitoring inventory levels, placing orders for food supplies, and ensuring stock levels are maintained while minimizing waste.
Food Safety and Hygiene: Enforcing strict adherence to health and safety standards, including proper food handling, storage, and sanitation practices.
Quality Control: Checking the quality of ingredients, overseeing food preparation methods, and maintaining consistency in the taste, presentation, and portion sizes of dishes.
Kitchen Maintenance: Ensuring equipment is well-maintained, in working order, and coordinating repairs or replacements when necessary.
Budgeting and Cost Control: Managing kitchen expenses, analyzing costs, and working within budgetary constraints.
Communication and Coordination: Liaising with restaurant or food service management, coordinating with servers or front-of-house staff, and effectively communicating kitchen needs and issues.
Problem-solving: Handling unexpected situations such as equipment malfunctions, staff shortages, or customer complaints promptly and effectively.
Adherence to Regulations: Keeping up-to-date with local health codes, safety regulations, and industry standards.

Skills:
- Previous experience working in a kitchen or culinary setting
- Strong knowledge of food preparation techniques and menu planning
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
- Strong communication and teamwork abilities
- Strong leadership and organizational skills.
