Nexus Game Lounge is a community-focused gaming retailer and entertainment company offering tabletop roleplaying games, trading card games, miniature wargames, board games, organized events, and custom gaming experiences.
Our production department supports our stores, events, conventions, and original programs by creating miniatures, terrain, apparel, props, displays, prototypes, signs, and other specialty products.
Position Overview
Nexus Game Lounge is seeking a creative, dependable, and detail-oriented Production Specialist – 3D Printing & Fabrication.
This is a hands-on production position involving multiple forms of fabrication and finishing work. Responsibilities may include resin and filament 3D printing, miniature and model assembly, painting, heat-press apparel production, prop making, terrain construction, display fabrication, and other approved building projects.
The Production Specialist will manage assigned projects from preparation through final completion. This includes reviewing work orders, preparing files and materials, operating equipment, assembling and finishing products, inspecting completed work, packaging orders, maintaining equipment, and keeping the production area clean and organized.
The ideal candidate enjoys making physical products, takes pride in accurate and attractive work, and is comfortable learning new tools and production methods.
What You Will Do
3D Printing
- Prepare, operate, and monitor resin and filament 3D printers.
- Import, scale, orient, support, and arrange approved digital files.
- Select appropriate print settings, materials, layer heights, supports, temperatures, and exposure settings.
- Prepare build plates and production files for efficient printing.
- Identify and correct common print failures.
- Remove completed prints safely.
- Wash, cure, trim, sand, and clean printed products.
- Maintain organized production files and print settings.
- Document failed prints, reprints, and material waste.
Model Assembly and Finishing
- Remove supports, rafts, brims, and other temporary production structures.
- Test-fit and assemble multi-part miniatures, terrain, props, displays, and accessories.
- Use approved adhesives, fillers, pins, fasteners, and assembly techniques.
- Trim, sand, scrape, fill, and prepare surfaces for finishing.
- Verify that completed products are properly aligned, stable, and structurally sound.
- Prepare assembled items for painting, packaging, installation, or customer pickup.
Painting and Decorative Work
- Prime, paint, shade, highlight, weather, seal, and finish miniatures, terrain, props, scenery, and display pieces.
- Follow approved color schemes, reference images, or written specifications.
- Use brushes, airbrushes, spray equipment, sponges, and other approved finishing tools.
- Apply decals, transfers, textures, flocking, basing materials, and decorative elements.
- Clean and maintain painting tools and work areas.
- Inspect painted products for consistency, coverage, and finish quality.
Apparel and Heat-Press Production
- Produce approved shirts, uniforms, promotional apparel, and fabric merchandise.
- Operate heat presses and related apparel-production equipment.
- Apply heat-transfer vinyl, direct-to-film transfers, sublimation materials, patches, and other approved products.
- Verify garment size, color, design, placement, and quantity before production.
- Measure and align graphics consistently.
- Select appropriate time, temperature, pressure, and application settings.
- Inspect completed garments for adhesion, placement, scorching, wrinkles, and other defects.
- Maintain accurate counts of blank and completed garments.
Fabrication and Building Projects
- Assist with approved construction, repair, and fabrication projects.
- Projects may include:
- Gaming tables
- Terrain boards
- Props and stage elements
- Shelving and storage
- Signs and displays
- Convention fixtures
- Production workstations
- Decorative installations
- Gaming accessories
- Review measurements, drawings, material lists, and project instructions.
- Measure, mark, cut, drill, fasten, assemble, sand, paint, and finish materials.
- Work with approved materials such as wood, foam, acrylic, plastic, fabric, hardware, adhesives, and coatings.
- Use hand tools and approved power tools safely.
- Install brackets, hinges, handles, casters, fasteners, and related hardware.
- Assist with transporting, setting up, and installing completed projects.
- Protect customer areas, equipment, merchandise, floors, and walls while completing projects.
Production Planning and Quality Control
- Review assigned work orders, deadlines, quantities, dimensions, materials, and finishing requirements.
- Confirm that required files, artwork, tools, and materials are available.
- Prioritize work according to deadlines and management direction.
- Maintain an organized queue of pending, active, completed, and delayed projects.
- Inspect completed products for:
- Accuracy
- Appearance
- Dimensions
- Structural integrity
- Cleanliness
- Correct quantities
- Required components
- Rework, reprint, or reject products that do not meet established standards.
- Communicate production delays, material shortages, equipment failures, and unclear instructions promptly.
- Package and label completed work accurately.
Equipment and Workspace Maintenance
- Perform routine cleaning and preventive maintenance on production equipment.
- Inspect printers, heat presses, wash stations, curing stations, airbrushes, hand tools, and power tools before use.
- Replace routine consumable components within the employee’s training and authority.
- Report damaged or unsafe equipment promptly.
- Keep production areas, tools, materials, and work-in-progress projects organized.
- Track resin, filament, garments, transfers, paint, adhesives, hardware, packaging, and other supplies.
- Report low inventory before it affects production.
- Record material waste, failed products, damaged garments, and reprints.
Safety Responsibilities
The Production Specialist must follow company safety procedures and equipment-manufacturer instructions.
Responsibilities include:
- Wearing required personal protective equipment.
- Following safe resin, paint, adhesive, chemical, and heat-equipment procedures.
- Maintaining required ventilation.
- Keeping flammable materials away from heat sources.
- Using guards, clamps, and other required safety controls.
- Keeping walkways and work areas clear.
- Securing blades, chemicals, heated equipment, and power tools.
- Cleaning spills using approved procedures.
- Disposing of production and chemical waste properly.
- Reporting injuries, exposures, equipment damage, near misses, and unsafe conditions immediately.
- Using only equipment for which the employee has received appropriate training and authorization.
This position will not perform licensed electrical, plumbing, structural, or other regulated work unless the employee is appropriately qualified and specifically authorized.

- Familiarity with slicer software and digital print preparation.
- Ability to identify and correct common print failures.
- Experience performing detailed assembly, finishing, crafting, or fabrication work.
- Basic experience using hand tools and measuring equipment.
- Ability to follow written specifications, diagrams, safety procedures, and manufacturer instructions.
- Strong attention to detail and product quality.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
- Basic computer and file-management skills.
- Ability to maintain accurate production records.

- Experience operating both resin and filament printers.
- Experience managing multiple printers or a small print farm.
- Experience producing miniatures, terrain, props, cosplay items, prototypes, or small-batch products.
- Experience with heat presses, vinyl cutters, sublimation, or direct-to-film transfers.
- Experience assembling and painting miniatures, terrain, or display models.
- Experience with airbrushing or spray finishing.
- Experience with woodworking, scenic construction, foam fabrication, signs, or displays.
- Experience safely operating drills, sanders, rotary tools, saws, or similar equipment.
- Familiarity with software such as:

- Experience with basic 3D modeling, graphic preparation, or file repair.
- Knowledge of tabletop gaming products.

Physical and Work Requirements
This position may require the employee to:

Scheduling Requirements
This position may require:
