Full Job Description

Job Summary

We are seeking an energetic and detail-oriented Survey Crew Chief. In this pivotal role, you will operate advanced surveying equipment, and coordinate with project teams to deliver accurate topographic, boundary, and construction layout surveys. Your leadership will drive project success through meticulous planning, technical expertise, and a proactive approach to problem-solving. This position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to large-scale infrastructure projects while honing your skills in cutting-edge surveying technologies. Final pay will be based on experience and will be evaluated at the end of the 90 day probationary period. We swrvice all of Florida so some out of town jobs will occur and will be compensated appropriately. We are looking for someone located in the marion, citrus, sumter, lake or levy county area.

Duties

Operate and calibrate advanced surveying equipment including total stations, GPS/GNSS systems, and robotic instruments to collect precise geospatial data
Perform construction layout surveys and staking to guide contractors during project execution
Conduct topographic, ALTA (American Land Title Association), boundary, and land development surveys with accuracy and efficiency
Analyze survey data for accuracy, resolve discrepancies using math skills such as trigonometry, algebra, geometry, and land surveying principles
Collaborate with engineers and project managers to interpret schematics, legal descriptions, and construction plans for effective field implementation
Maintain detailed records of survey activities, field notes, data logs, and equipment maintenance reports
Assist in training junior team members on surveying techniques and equipment operation while promoting a safe work environment

Requirements

Proven experience in land surveying with a strong understanding of construction staking, topographic surveys, ALTA surveys, and legal descriptions
Proficiency in operating total stations, GPS/GNSS systems and related surveying equipment
Skilled in CAD software such as AutoCAD and familiarity with GIS platforms like ArcGIS is preferred
Strong knowledge of math fundamentals including trigonometry, algebra, geometry and their application in land surveying calculations
Ability to interpret schematics and construction drawings accurately for field implementation
Experience with data collection techniques using GPS surveying methods and total station operations
Physical ability to perform heavy lifting and work outdoors in various weather conditions for extended periods
Excellent communication skills for coordinating with team members and project stakeholders effectively
