Full Job Description

GENERAL DESCRIPTION

The Student Data & Systems Analyst is a highly technical, data-focused position responsible for the administration, analysis, accuracy, reporting, and integrity of student information and data systems across New Horizons Regional Education Centers (NHREC).

This position serves as NHREC’s primary technical resource for PowerSchool, Microsoft Excel, student data management, state reporting, transcript processing, data analysis, and academic reporting. The Analyst works extensively with large and complex datasets and is responsible for entering, compiling, analyzing, validating, reconciling, and reporting student information for internal and external stakeholders.

Extensive knowledge and demonstrated professional use of Microsoft Excel is required for this position. The successful candidate must be highly proficient in Excel and capable of independently using advanced Excel functions and tools to organize and analyze large datasets, reconcile information from multiple sources, identify discrepancies, develop reports, and support data-driven decision-making.

The position also supports student registration, enrollment, and recruitment data processes in collaboration with public high schools in NHREC's seven partner school divisions, school counselors, administrators, faculty, students, and parents.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

Serve as NHREC’s primary administrator and technical resource for PowerSchool, including system management, troubleshooting, reporting, user support, and training.
Utilize Microsoft Excel extensively to enter, analyze, organize, validate, reconcile, and report student and program data.
Develop and maintain Excel spreadsheets, tracking systems, and reports using advanced functions such as PivotTables, formulas, filtering, and data validation.
Import, export, clean, analyze, and reconcile large datasets from PowerSchool and other information systems.
Conduct data audits to identify discrepancies, errors, and missing information and ensure overall data integrity.
Maintain accurate student records, including enrollment, grades, attendance, demographics, test scores, and transcripts.
Coordinate student registration and enrollment data for CTE and Governor’s School programs and NHREC’s seven partner school divisions.
Prepare and distribute student achievement, enrollment, grade, compliance, and statistical reports for internal and external stakeholders.
Analyze student data to support program evaluation, school improvement, and administrative decision-making.
Oversee required student data collections, including CTE Student Completer Survey reporting.
Perform related duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Associate's degree from an accredited institution or five years of relevant experience in data analysis, student information systems, educational data, school division records, data reporting, or a related technical/data-management function is required.
Extensive knowledge and demonstrated professional use of Microsoft Excel required.
Demonstrated ability to independently work with large and complex datasets and accurately enter, analyze, reconcile, and report information.
Strong working knowledge of student information systems, preferably PowerSchool.
Experience generating, analyzing, validating, and presenting data reports.
Experience working in a public school division or educational environment preferred.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel is an essential function and minimum technical requirement of this position. The candidate must demonstrate extensive professional experience using Excel for data analysis and reporting.
Strong technical knowledge of student information systems, with PowerSchool experience strongly preferred.
Understanding of student registration, enrollment, scheduling, grading, and records-management processes.
Ability to maintain and verify large volumes of student information with a high degree of accuracy.
Ability to compile and reconcile information from multiple systems and sources.
Ability to identify trends, inconsistencies, missing information, and reporting errors.
Ability to interpret data and communicate findings clearly.
Ability to establish effective working relationships with administrators, faculty, staff, students, families, counselors, and representatives from partner school divisions.
Ability to manage multiple technical projects, reporting cycles, and deadlines simultaneously.
Knowledge of FERPA, educational records requirements, and public school procedures.
Ability to handle confidential information appropriately.
Ability to work independently, identify technical or data-related problems, and develop appropriate solutions.
