Full Job Description

Job Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Manual Machinist to join our dynamic manufacturing team. In this role, you will be responsible for operating and setting up various manual machining tools and equipment to produce precision metal components. Your expertise in reading blueprints, interpreting mechanical drawings, and utilizing measurement instruments will ensure the highest quality standards are met. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work with a variety of machining processes, contribute to lean manufacturing initiatives, and develop your technical skills in a fast-paced environment dedicated to excellence.

Duties

Operate manual machining equipment such as lathes, grinders, and milling machines to produce precision parts according to specifications
Interpret mechanical blueprints, technical drawings, and GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing) to determine machining requirements
Set up and calibrate machines using measurement tools like calipers, micrometers, bore gauges, and coordinate measuring machines (CMM) for accurate production
Use hand tools and tooling to perform machining tasks, ensuring proper tool selection and maintenance
Read and write CNC G-code programming for machine automation when necessary, including M-code commands for machine functions
Conduct quality inspections utilizing precision measurement instruments to verify dimensions and tolerances meet standards
Maintain a clean and organized work area while adhering to safety protocols; operate forklifts and power tools as needed for material handling and setup
Assist in machine setup, calibration, and troubleshooting to optimize machining processes in accordance with lean manufacturing principles
Support welding, assembly, or plastics injection molding processes when required as part of integrated production workflows

Skills

Extensive knowledge of manual machining techniques using lathes, grinders, milling machines, and other machining tools
Proficiency in reading mechanical blueprints, technical drawings, and GD&T specifications for precise fabrication
Strong understanding of CNC programming languages including G-code and M-code for machine control when applicable
Experience with CNC machining operations such as CNC lathe and CNC milling machines using Fanuc or similar controllers
Skilled in the use of precision measuring instruments like calipers, micrometers, bore gauges, dial indicators, and coordinate measuring machines (CMM) for quality control
Mechanical knowledge combined with the ability to interpret mechanical blueprints accurately for complex parts manufacturing
Familiarity with CAD (Computer-Aided Design) software such as SolidWorks or similar programs for part design review or modifications
Ability to operate power tools safely and efficiently; experience with welding is a plus
Basic math skills necessary for measurements, calculations, and setting machine parameters accurately
Knowledge of manufacturing processes including metal machining techniques and plastics injection molding workflows
Understanding of lean manufacturing principles aimed at reducing waste while maintaining high-quality output
