Senior Construction Superintendent - Ground-Up Hotel Construction

Full-Time | In Person | Salary Negotiable | Medical and Benefits

EH Butland Corporation is seeking a highly experienced Senior Construction Superintendent to lead the onsite construction of a large-scale, ground-up hotel project valued in the $40 million to $50 million range.

This position requires a proven record of successfully completing comparable ground-up hotel or hospitality projects from initial site activities through turnover and closeout. The Senior Superintendent will have primary responsibility for all onsite construction operations, including safety, quality, scheduling, subcontractor performance, logistics, inspections, and coordination with the project management team.

Proven ground-up hotel construction experience on projects of comparable size and complexity is required.

Position Overview

The Senior Superintendent will lead all onsite construction activities and manage multiple subcontractors and trades. The onsite team will include:

An additional experienced Superintendent
An Assistant Superintendent
An onsite Project Engineer

The onsite team will be backed by a fully staffed home office providing the administrative, project management, accounting, purchasing, scheduling, and executive support necessary for successful project delivery.

The Senior Superintendent will work closely with and report to the General Superintendent, Project Manager, and Director of Construction. The successful candidate must demonstrate strong collaboration, professional leadership, and a history of delivering successful projects through effective coordination with owners, architects, consultants, inspectors, subcontractors, and internal project teams.

Key Responsibilities

Assume primary responsibility for all onsite construction activities from mobilization through final completion and turnover.
Lead the successful delivery of the project safely, on schedule, within budget, and in accordance with the contract documents.
Direct and coordinate the onsite staff, subcontractors, trade foremen, vendors, suppliers, and field personnel.
Manage multiple subcontractors and overlapping trades while maintaining project sequencing, site logistics, productivity, and quality.
Develop, maintain, and execute detailed short-term and long-term construction schedules in coordination with the Project Manager & Director of Construction.
Conduct subcontractor coordination meetings, foremen meetings, safety meetings, and daily planning sessions.
Maintain a thorough working knowledge of the plans, specifications, submittals, RFIs, revisions, schedules, and contractual requirements.
Review the project documents in advance to identify conflicts, constructability concerns, long-lead items, and potential schedule impacts.
Coordinate field activities with the Project Manager, General Superintendent, design team, consultants, and executive leadership.
Collaborate professionally with the owner, architect, consultants, inspectors, and other project stakeholders.
Establish and enforce project-specific safety expectations in accordance with the EH Butland Safety Manual and applicable OSHA requirements.
Ensure subcontractors implement and enforce their safety programs and conduct all required safety meetings.
Monitor subcontractor staffing, performance, production, and compliance with project schedules.
Verify that all work conforms to the plans, specifications, approved submittals, applicable codes, and EH Butland quality standards.
Maintain accurate daily reports documenting manpower, work completed, equipment, deliveries, materials, inspections, delays, and significant project events.
Prepare, track, and help resolve RFIs, field conflicts, design clarifications, and changed conditions.
Coordinate testing and inspections with governing agencies and special inspectors.
Ensure inspection corrections and punch-list items are completed promptly.
Manage temporary facilities, site access, deliveries, material storage, security, housekeeping, and overall jobsite logistics.
Lead commissioning, punch-list completion, closeout, owner training, and final turnover activities.
Maintain a professional and solutions-oriented jobsite culture focused on accountability, teamwork, and successful project delivery.

Required Experience and Qualifications

A minimum of 15 years of progressive commercial construction experience, including substantial experience as the lead or Senior Superintendent.
A proven record of successfully completing ground-up hotel or hospitality projects in the $40 million to $50 million range or projects of comparable size and complexity.
Demonstrated full-charge responsibility for projects from site mobilization through occupancy, turnover, and closeout.
Strong knowledge of hotel construction, including guestroom repetition, public spaces, food-service areas, back-of-house operations, vertical transportation, life-safety systems, and building commissioning.
Strong working knowledge of structural, architectural, civil, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, fire-protection, and building-envelope systems.
Demonstrated ability to lead onsite staff and coordinate multiple subcontractors across concurrent work areas.
Ability to read, understand, and interpret drawings, specifications, schedules, submittals, and contract requirements.
Proven ability to identify conflicts early and resolve field conditions collaboratively and efficiently.
Strong leadership, decision-making, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to maintain productive professional relationships with owners, architects, consultants, inspectors, subcontractors, and internal team members.
Proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and Project.
Familiarity with modern construction management, scheduling, documentation, and drawing-management platforms is preferred.
Strong attention to detail and a consistent commitment to safety, quality, schedule, and accountability.

A project list identifying comparable ground-up hotel or hospitality projects, project values, locations, dates, and individual responsibilities.

Professional references from past owners, architects, consultants, or clients who can attest to the candidate's leadership, professionalism, technical expertise, communication, and project performance.
Examples of projects completed safely, on schedule, within budget, and to the owner's satisfaction.
