Full-Time | Northeast Ohio | In-Office

Join a Growing Healthcare Organization

Prestige Foot and Ankle Center and Prestige Wound Solutions are expanding specialty medical practices dedicated to delivering exceptional podiatric and advanced wound care throughout Northeast Ohio. Our providers care for patients both in our clinics and through our growing mobile wound care program, bringing specialized treatment directly to skilled nursing facilities, assisted living communities, and patients with limited access to traditional office care.

As our organization continues to grow, we are seeking an experienced Insurance Specialist / Medical Biller to join our administrative team.

This position will play a key role in the financial operations of both practices, with a primary focus on insurance billing, claims management, denial resolution, accounts receivable, payer follow-up, and reimbursement.

The ideal candidate is someone who is comfortable working directly with insurance companies, understands the medical billing process from claim submission through payment, and enjoys researching and resolving complex billing issues.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced billing professional who wants to take on greater responsibility within a growing healthcare organization, with potential for advancement into a Billing Manager or Revenue Cycle leadership position.

Compensation

$50,000 a year, depending on experience.

Responsibilities

Insurance & Claims Management

Verify patient insurance eligibility, benefits, and coverage.
Submit and monitor medical claims for professional services.
Process claims for Medicare, Medicaid, commercial insurance, and workers' compensation.
Follow up with insurance companies regarding unpaid, delayed, or underpaid claims.
Investigate claim rejections and denials and determine appropriate resolution.
Prepare and submit insurance appeals, reconsiderations, and corrected claims.
Research payer policies, medical necessity requirements, and reimbursement guidelines.
Communicate directly with insurance representatives to resolve claim and payment issues.
Monitor payer-specific requirements and identify recurring billing issues.

Accounts Receivable & Payment Management

Review and work insurance accounts receivable and aging reports.
Prioritize outstanding claims and balances based on age, payer, and dollar value.
Post insurance and patient payments accurately.
Review EOBs and ERAs for accuracy and identify discrepancies.
Investigate underpayments, recoupments, takebacks, and payment discrepancies.
Reconcile accounts and assist with maintaining accurate A/R.
Identify opportunities to improve collections and reduce outstanding balances.

Billing & Coding Support

Review claims for basic coding and billing accuracy prior to submission.
Identify missing or inconsistent information that may result in claim denials.
Work with providers and internal staff to obtain necessary documentation or corrections.
Assist with CPT, ICD-10-CM, HCPCS, and modifier-related billing questions.
Stay current with payer requirements and changes affecting reimbursement.
Assist with correcting billing issues within the practice management/EMR system.

Process Improvement

Identify trends in denials, underpayments, and payer issues.
Recommend improvements to billing and insurance workflows.
Help establish efficient processes for claim follow-up and A/R management.
Maintain organized documentation of payer issues and resolutions.
Assist with training and supporting other billing staff as needed.

Preferred Qualifications

3–5+ years of medical billing, insurance, or revenue cycle experience.
Strong experience working directly with insurance companies and payer portals.
Experience with Medicare, Medicaid, and commercial insurance.
Strong understanding of medical claims, EOBs, ERAs, denials, appeals, and accounts receivable.
Experience working insurance aging reports and following up on outstanding claims.
Knowledge of CPT, ICD-10-CM, HCPCS, and common medical billing practices.
Experience with medical necessity requirements and payer-specific billing guidelines.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Excellent attention to detail and ability to identify billing discrepancies.
Comfortable communicating professionally with insurance representatives, patients, providers, and internal staff.
Familiarity with electronic medical record (EMR) and practice management systems.
Experience with podiatry, wound care, surgery, or other specialty medical billing is strongly preferred.

CPC, CCS, or other coding certification is a plus, but is not required.
