Job Title: Tooling & Mold Lead
Pay Rate: $50.00 - $60.00 / hour (Based on experience)
Location: Leominster, MA
Job Type: Full-Time, Permanent / Temp-to-Perm
Shift: Monday - Friday, 1st Shift

Job Summary

A multifaceted contract manufacturing organization specializing in thermoplastic injection molding and precision machining is seeking a hands-on Tooling & Mold Lead for our facility (Leominster, MA area). This role will direct and oversee the work of Mold Makers to ensure the highest quality output, while remaining responsible for the machining, fabrication, repair, and preventative maintenance of all injection molds.

Key Lead Accountabilities

Direct, mentor, and assign daily work to a team of Mold Makers based on skill level and job requirements
Train staff on machine safety, CNC functions, 6S practices, and quality management instructions
Report on shift performance, downtime, quality defects, and overall labor efficiency
Ensure tool room work orders are accurately maintained in the internal ERP system
Provide technical input to the quoting and design teams on mold configurations, fixtures, and tooling

Hands-On Mold Maker Accountabilities

Operate tool room equipment (CNC, milling machines, lathes, EDM) to achieve tight tolerances
Fabricate mold components (cores, cavities, ejectors), including heat treating and grinding
Assemble molds and prepare them for testing; verify fit, function, and cooling systems
Disassemble, troubleshoot, repair, and modify existing injection molds

Qualifications & Requirements

5+ years of hands-on experience in machine tools, mold design, and mold fabrication
Strong understanding of part geometry, trigonometry, and the ability to read complex blueprints
Proficient with tool room equipment (CNC, manual mills/lathes, EDM machines)
Basic experience with SolidWorks and manufacturing ERP/MRP systems preferred
Technical Trade School Certification is preferred
Excellent communication and leadership skills to mentor a skilled trade team

Candidates must be able to pass a comprehensive background check and drug screening prior to onboarding
