Full Job Description

Kanzaki Specialty Papers, located in Ware, MA, is a world leader in specialty coated materials and is a wholly owned subsidiary of Oji Holdings Co., Ltd., one of the largest paper companies in the world. Kanzaki is seeking a hands-on IT Systems and Network Manager to lead day-to-day IT operations in a 24/7 manufacturing environment. Reporting directly to the Director of IT, this role combines technical leadership with hands-on administration and is accountable for the stability, security, and continuous improvement of infrastructure, systems, networks, and cybersecurity. The manager will set priorities, coordinate internal and external resources, and ensure reliable service to both business and production operations.

Key Responsibilities

Lead day-to-day IT infrastructure and support operations, establishing priorities, standards, and service expectations
Own Windows Server and virtual infrastructure, including Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, Group Policy, VMware or Hyper-V
Oversee HPE servers, storage, backups, lifecycle planning, and disaster recovery readiness
Direct the design, maintenance, and improvement of network infrastructure, including VLANs, switching, routing, wireless, and cabling
Manage firewalls, VPN connectivity, access controls, and practical cybersecurity safeguards (FortiGate preferred)
Oversee Microsoft 365 administration, including identity and access, Teams, and Exchange
Manage ERP and business-system support, vendor relationships, contracts, licensing, and project delivery
Provide hands-on Tier 2 and Tier 3 escalation support while coaching staff and documenting repeatable processes
Coordinate on-call coverage, incident response, and after-hours maintenance as needed

Current Focus and Near-Term Priorities

Develop and execute a roadmap for network structure and segmentation across IT and OT environments
Plan and deliver upgrades to servers, storage, and core infrastructure
Strengthen security across systems, identities, endpoints, and networks
Formalize disaster recovery, backup validation, testing, documentation, and readiness
Establish performance, availability, asset, and service metrics to identify risks and drive improvement

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology or a related field, or equivalent experience and relevant industry certifications
5 or more years of progressive systems and network administration experience, including leadership of projects, vendors, or technical staff
Strong hands-on background in Windows Server, Microsoft 365, virtualization, server hardware, storage, and backup technologies
Strong knowledge of core networking concepts, including TCP/IP, VLANs, ACLs, switching, routing, wireless, and network segmentation
Demonstrated experience applying cybersecurity principles, system and network hardening, identity controls, and risk-based remediation
Experience managing firewalls, VPNs, and practical security controls in a production environment
Experience planning infrastructure lifecycles, budgets, licensing, and vendor-supported projects
Working knowledge of ERP or business systems and VoIP
Proven incident leadership, root-cause analysis, and troubleshooting ability in a 24/7 production environment
Ability to work in a manufacturing environment, including navigating facilities (e.g., stairs and production areas) and performing physical tasks related to installing and handling IT equipment
Clear communication skills and the ability to influence technical and non-technical stakeholders at all levels
