Loan Officer, Junior – Retail
SUMMARY
When a top producing Loan Officer achieves a production level that exceeds the time and effort available from one individual, he or she may choose to build a team. The Junior Loan Officer is responsible for all Loan Officer Activities for a loan origination team .Through professional persistence, the Junior Loan Officer solicits and originates loans that are acceptable to the companies chosen investors and agencies. He/she develops and maintains a strong client referral base by selling the firm’s loan products and services to meet the needs of its client base such as realtors, builders, home buyers, CPA’s, financial planners and others. The Junior Loan Officer is responsible for growing the team’s production.
KNOWLEDGE, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS REQUIRED
Technical Knowledge, Years of Related Experience, Skills, Licenses, and Systems Experience
Education: College Degree in Business or Finance preferred, but not required.
- Experience: Minimum 3+ years of loan originator experience, loan officer assistant experience or strong sales experience with demonstrated potential to transfer skills to mortgage origination.
- Skills: Ability to originate loans, detail oriented with strong follow-up skills, basic math skills, interpersonal skills that forge professional relationships and support, strong oral, verbal and written communication skills; Ability to read, write and communicate at a level consistent with the requirements of this position and to generate independents leads for new business. To be knowledgeable and articulate regarding all aspects of the loan products offered such as FHA/VA, FHLMC, FNMA, JUMBO and all other Area, City, State, County and National loan programs that the company offers.
- License: NMLS License.
- Systems: Experience using Empower Loan Management Software preferred.
TRAINING REQUIRED
Participate in additional training on sales, technology, products, procedures and pricing on an ongoing basis. Complete annual training as required by company policy and law on an annual basis in a timely manner.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Establish, develop and maintain client referral relationships with Realtors, builders, Developers, CPA’s, financial planners and make sales calls on potential or existing customers in order to develop new business and/or retain existing business.
- Keep informed of trends, changes and developments in the local real estate market.
- Be aware of what competitors are doing.
- To keep up-to-date with changing rules, regulations and guidelines from FNMA, FHLMC, FHA and VA in addition to other investors and agencies.
- To keep up-to-date with changing rules, regulations and guidelines from FNMA, FHLMC, FHA and VA in addition to other investors and agencies.
- To keep informed of all origination, processing, appraisal, underwriting and closing requirements for both company and investor guidelines pertaining to both governments insured and privately insured mortgages.
- Negotiate price, terms and conditions with mortgages.
- Coordinate customer interaction and interface with all parties involved on each individual loan that is originated from application to closing including, but not limited to: Counseling and Pre-qualifying potential home buyers; taking complete and accurate application; obtaining all necessary support documents along with the appropriate fees and lock-in information; overseeing the loan process by monitoring loan status and ensuring conformity with term; assisting in collecting additional documents and promptly communication loan status to all interested parties; and obtaining loan documentation after closing as directed by corporate or senior management.
- Maintain a professional image and standards consistent with company policies and procedures.
- Follow through on all professional conditions and education requirements for licensure.
- Adhere to organizational procedures for loan processing.
- May act as trainer for newly-hired mortgage loan officers.
- Participate in branch/headquarter meetings that require attendance.
- All other duties that may be assigned by the Branch Manager.SPECIFIC ACTIVITIES
Attend and participate in all Monthly Awards Ceremonies, Corporate Gatherings & Training Events
Read all newsletters and bulletins to remain current on corporate policies, procedures, and developments.
