Full Job Description

Overview
The Regional Nurse provides clinical leadership, oversight, and support to multiple skilled nursing facilities within an assigned geographic region. This role ensures compliance with federal/state regulations, drives quality improvement initiatives, supports facility leadership, and monitors clinical outcomes across all facilities. Extensive travel throughout the region is required.

Responsibilities

Provide clinical oversight and guidance to Directors of Nursing and facility nursing teams to ensure the highest standards of resident care.
Monitor compliance with state and federal regulations, company policies, and industry standards.
Conduct routine facility visits to assess clinical quality, identify areas for improvement, and support corrective actions.
Assist facilities with survey preparation and response, including writing plans of correction.
Mentor, educate, and train nursing leadership (DONs/ADONs) and clinical staff.
Develop and implement clinical best practices and performance improvement initiatives.
Analyze clinical performance data, trends, and outcomes, and report findings.
Support development and enforcement of clinical policies and procedures.
Serve temporarily as interim Director of Nursing at facilities, when needed.
Travel extensively within the region to ensure support and regulatory compliance.

Qualifications

Current and active Registered Nurse (RN) license in good standing.
3–5+ years of experience in long-term care, skilled nursing, or regional nursing leadership roles (Director of Nursing or similar).
Strong knowledge of CMS regulations and long-term care compliance standards.
Demonstrated leadership, coaching/mentoring, and communication skills.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office and electronic clinical systems.
Ability and willingness to travel frequently.

Preferred / Nice-to-Have

Experience in quality assurance, performance improvement, or regulatory readiness.
Certifications such as Infection Prevention/Control or MDS.
Prior multi-facility leadership experience
