Full Job Description

At Cheyenne Laramie County Public Health, our mission is to protect, promote, and enhance the health of every resident in our community. We are seeking a dedicated Environmental Health Specialist to join our team. The well-qualified staff of the Environmental Health Division protect public health through oversight, inspection, licensing and enforcement of regulations.

This is an opportunity for a detail-oriented professional to apply scientific principles to real-world public health challenges while working independently across the diverse landscape of Laramie County.

As an Environmental Health Specialist, you will:

Inspect public facilities such as restaurants, daycares, swimming pools, schools, massage, body art etc. for compliance with regulations and laws.
Inspect on-site wastewater systems to ensure compliance with regulations.
Investigate public health nuisances.
Collect water samples for lab analysis.
Assist in epidemiological data collection including food samples.
Conduct complete and accurate environmental health inspections and investigations.
Daily independent travel in Cheyenne Laramie County Public Health vehicle throughout Laramie County in various weather conditions.

If you are the right person for this opportunity, you will have the following skills and experience:

Associate or bachelor’s degree in environmental health, Public Health or a closely related scientific field.
Strong communication skills.
Valid driver’s license required.
Prior experience as an Environmental Health Specialist preferred but not required.

Job Type – Full Time, Monday through Friday

Salary Range - $23.50 – $29.37 per hour
