JOB TITLE: Infant/Toddler Teacher
DEPARTMENT: Seedling Center
REPORTS TO: Childcare Center Director

JOB SUMMARY
The Infant/Toddler Teacher is responsible for providing a safe, nurturing, and developmentally appropriate learning environment for children aged from birth to 2 years. This position supports the physical, emotional, social, and cognitive development of infants and toddlers through responsive caregiving, age-appropriate activities, and positive interactions. The teacher maintains a clean and organized classroom, follows licensing regulations and health and safety standards, communicates effectively with families, and works collaboratively with staff to ensure high-quality care and education for all children.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

Prefer a minimum of an associate’s degree in child development or related field, and/or a bachelor’s degree in early childhood and/or Elementary Education, and/or state certification. Wyoming Infant/Toddler Director’s credential within 1 year of employment preferred.
Must pass State of Wyoming DCI criminal background check, Department of Family Services background check and State of Wyoming fingerprint clearance test.

EXPERIENCE
Minimum of 21 years of age, and a minimum of 1-year experience working with children under the age of 6 is preferred. Previous experience in a licensed childcare and/or preschool classroom is preferred.

SKILLS

Must possess a high degree of confidentiality in all matters with the ability to manage sensitive and confidential situations with tact, professionalism, and diplomacy.
Must have good interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate with staff and public in a friendly, courteous and helpful manner.
Must have the ability to work well with children, parents, staff, and the community.
Must have the ability to plan, prepare, and implement a developmental preschool curriculum for ages birth through 6.
Must be able to manage multiple tasks, sometimes under pressure, with calmness and patience
Must have developed verbal communication skills.
Effective computer and keyboarding skills.
Must have ability to learn and use Microsoft Office Suite products including Word and Outlook.
Ability to learn new computer software applications.
Must be able to stoop, bend down to eye level with children, and stand for long periods of time while carrying or holding children.

REQUIRED CERTIFICATIONS
Wyoming Infant/Toddler Director’s credential preferred; BLS, First Aid Certification (AHA) required within 60 days of employment. Valid clean driver’s license is preferred.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Establishes positive personal relationships with children. Infant/Toddler Teacher is alert, and responds to children’s differing needs, interests, styles, and abilities through listening, conversations, play, and nurturing.
Works in partnership with parents, communicating daily to build mutual understanding and trust to ensure the welfare and optimal development of each child. The Infant/Toddler Teacher will conduct parent/teacher roundings two times annually.
Employs appropriate educational assessment tools, which may include observation and portfolio collection and assessment records for use in parent/teacher conferences and IEP reviews. Prepares individual progress reports and develops new education goals for children
Provides children with a rich variety of experiences, projects, materials, problems, and ideas to explore and investigate. Organizes the environment and plans teaching strategies. Infant/Toddler teacher will research, develop and publish a monthly/weekly curriculum to incorporate concepts and activities that foster the development of children ages birth through 2.
Works in partnership with a team of childcare assistants and the preschool teacher. Will mentor/coach and release childcare assistants in preferred protocols and developmentally appropriate practices and their application in the care, nurturing, and education of infants and toddlers.
Maintains professional relationships with Special Education Professionals and the Park County School District #6 kindergarten liaison, to investigate and incorporate strategies into the daily classroom routine to help children meet educational, behavioral, and therapeutic goals, if appropriate
Facilitates the development of social skills, self-control, and self-regulation in children by using positive guidance techniques.
Performs or assists children in routines such as feeding, diapering, bathroom duties, hand washing, and naptime procedures.
Communicate regularly with program director. Will keep director abreast of changes in daily enrollment, sick children, changes in a child’s feeding program, daily routines, and developmental milestones, curriculum development, parent’s concerns and feedback, and any questions or concerns regarding infant care and the development of the program in general.
Ensures the health and safety of children by adhering to all state, hospital, and departmental regulations, and fire and sanitation codes.
Prepare and serve healthy, nutritious snacks and meals. Will be expected to learn, understand, and apply nutrition guidelines set forth by the Child and Adult Care Food Program, if appropriate.
Oversee and participates in maintaining records. Coordinates the development of infant/toddler bulletin boards.
Keeps a neat, orderly, and appealing environment and participates in light housekeeping responsibilities.
Increases knowledge base by participating in state, hospital, and department sponsored continuing education. Seeks to increase knowledge base specific to the development and care of infants and toddlers and will take the initiative to pass that information on to childcare assistants.
Qualified and able to accept responsibility for acting in the absence of the Director, if so assigned.
Assures provision of quality customer service consistent with the Mission, Vision, and Key Values of Cody Regional Health, and the organization’s Planetree philosophy.

SECONDARY FUNCTIONS

Attend various facility meetings and special events.
Responsible for the oversight of special projects or events as assigned.
Other duties as assigned by supervisor, within the scope of the position.
