Senior Data Center Fiber Optic Specialist
Full-time | Nationwide U.S. travel required
Work location: Remote when not assigned to a project site
About the Role
We are seeking a Senior Data Center Fiber Optic Specialist with extensive hands-on experience in high-density ribbon fiber, mass fusion splicing, fiber testing, troubleshooting, and remediation.
This is a senior technical leadership position—not a general structured cabling or lead technician role. You will serve as the company’s technical authority for fiber infrastructure in hyperscale and enterprise data centers. You will help plan complex projects, solve critical field issues, establish quality standards, train technicians, and support customer and preconstruction discussions.
The right candidate combines expert-level field skills with the ability to teach, assess, and lead technical teams across multiple projects. Frequent travel to data center sites throughout the United States is required.
Required Qualifications
- 10 or more years of experience in fiber optics, low-voltage infrastructure, or data center cabling
- At least 5 years of experience leading large-scale data center deployments
- Advanced hands-on experience with high-density ribbon fiber and mass fusion splicing
- Experience troubleshooting and remediating ribbon fiber in active data center environments
- Advanced experience with OTDR, OLTS, VFL, fiber characterization, and end-to-end validation
- Experience with MPO/MTP infrastructure and data center structured cabling systems
- Experience working in hyperscale or enterprise data centers
- Strong knowledge of data center construction, testing, commissioning, and quality-control practices
- Ability and willingness to travel extensively throughout the United States
- Strong communication, leadership, training, and problem-solving skills

- Provide technical input for estimates, proposals, schedules, and deployment plans
Training and Workforce Development
- Develop structured training programs for data center technicians and team leads
- Conduct classroom and hands-on training in ribbon splicing, fiber testing, troubleshooting, and quality assurance
- Mentor field personnel and help develop future technical leaders
- Evaluate technicians through interviews, practical skills assessments, and field observations
- Help build and maintain a nationwide network of qualified data center fiber professionals
Customer Support
- Participate in customer presentations and technical discussions
- Explain technical requirements, risks, and proposed solutions clearly
- Support business development with credible technical expertise
- Build customer confidence by serving as a trusted technical advisor
