Job description

The Nassau County Department of Health is seeking a Bilingual Social Health Investigator Trainee to work in the field of Public Health. Under direct supervision the individual receives training and assists in conducting investigations relating to all aspects of sexually transmitted and other epidemiological diseases conducting investigations, interviews, contact tracing, treatment adherence activities, and outreach related to sexually transmitted diseases, tuberculosis, and other reportable communicable diseases, utilizing in-person, video, and community-based methods in accordance with New York State and Nassau County Department of Health policies and procedures.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
1.) Master's degree in a social work or a health field from a regionally accredited or New York State registered college or university; or

2.) Bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited or New York State registered college or university AND one year of satisfactory experience conducting social services or public health investigations or eligibility reviews and/or conducting health counseling or health education.

3.) Candidate MUST be able to perform all duties in Spanish in addition to English.

Salary

Starting $45,524

After 6 months $52,954

After 12 months $71,628

***Residency: One year of Nassau County residency immediately preceding a provisional appointment which must be maintained until appointed from an eligible list established as a result of the examination.

This is a Civil Service position, which will require successfully passing a written Civil Service examination. After taking the exam, establishment of a Civil Service List, and serving a minimum of one year probation, the title changes to Social Health Investigator I which includes an additional increase in salary.

Necessary Special Requirement
Continuing possession of an appropriate class, valid New York State Driver's License. Must have available for use an operable automobile in order to conduct field assignments.
