We are seeking an experienced Machine Operator Trainer to join our book manufacturing team on a part-time basis. This role is ideal for a skilled machine operator/bindery professional who enjoys teaching others and helping operators develop the knowledge and confidence needed to produce high-quality books safely and efficiently.
Flexible Schedule: Monday - Friday (during the hours of 7:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m.)
PayScale: $17.96 - $21.13 (hourly)
Responsibilities
- Train new and existing employees on bindery equipment and production processes.
- Demonstrate proper machine setup, operation, adjustments, troubleshooting, and preventive maintenance.
- Ensure all training emphasizes workplace safety, quality standards, and production efficiency.
- Evaluate trainee progress and provide constructive coaching and feedback.
- Develop and maintain training materials, procedures, and documentation as needed.
- Work closely with supervisors to identify skill gaps and recommend additional training.
- Promote best practices for equipment care, housekeeping, and continuous improvement.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 5 years of experience operating bindery equipment in a book manufacturing environment.
- Strong knowledge of bindery processes, including folding, gathering, sewing, perfect binding, case binding, trimming, and related finishing operations.
- Previous training, mentoring, or supervisory experience preferred.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and adapt training methods to different learning styles.
- Commitment to safety, quality, and continuous improvement.
