Full Job Description

The Practical Nursing Program at York County School of Technology has openings for adjunct clinical instructor positions.

The clinical instructor must be able to work with students at various clinical sites affiliated with the PN program. A strong clinical background is required in content areas, including long-term care, medical-surgical nursing, and understanding the scope and practice for a Practical Nurse (PN). The clinical instructor should have the ability to prioritize the educational needs of students while respecting the guidelines of the clinical facility and their staff. The instructor should have innovative and creative concepts to implement a post-conference lesson plan, and excellent communication that fosters learning in nursing. The instructor is expected to present a professional and positive image personally, and as a representative of the school and its programs, both onsite and at clinical locations.

Required Qualifications:

Practical Nursing Clinical Instructors must meet the following conditions and qualifications:

Graduation from an approved professional school of nursing at a minimum a BSN (Bachelor of Science in Nursing), MSN is desirable, but not required.
Current active Pennsylvania unencumbered RN license required.
Experience and skill in the practice of nursing, which will require classroom and clinical instruction for students enrolled in the Practical Nursing program.
Clinically skilled with ability to provide
Must meet all legal requirements, submit all criminal background checks, clearance statements, physical, titers, and drug screen.
Valid Driver’s License.
Be proficient with using computer technologies: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Computerized patient records EPIC, Matrix, and Schoology Learning Management Systems.

Key Responsibilities:

The Practical Nursing Instructor must have the ability to perform the following essential functions with or without reasonable accommodations:

Collaborate with PN faculty team on curriculum development and planning.
Develop individual instructional materials to meet course objectives and evidence-based practice as it relates to the NCLEX.
Provide knowledgeable insight on the selection of books, tools, and equipment.
Assist the Nursing program Staff with student placements via conferences and recommendations.
Instruct students in the classroom and on the clinical areas, demonstrating creativity in lessons and professionalism at all times.
Maintain safety rules and procedures and observe all policies per the Instructor Handbook.
Maintain an up-to-date inventory of all tools and equipment.
Maintain accurate records for attendance, clinical evaluations, and grade reports.
Keep professional development up-to-date for nursing education, as instructional techniques should meet course objectives to help with comprehension of the variety of learning styles.
Present all materials with evidence-based research and use of scholarly resources.
Maintain student assignments, communication and organization.
Communicate and understand products from nurse educator vendors/representatives as instructional materials are utilized throughout the program.
Serve as a role model by practicing the Teacher Professional Code of Ethics as defined by the Pennsylvania School Code.
Assist in maintaining State and national credentials/accreditation.
Be proficient with the use of technologies in the classroom and clinical areas.
Assist students with SIM labs, which complement the theory portion of the curriculum.
Other related duties as outlined in the complete job description or otherwise assigned.

Pay: $37.00 - $39.00 per hour

Nursing: 2 years (Required)

RN Pennsylvania License (Required)
BSN (Preferred)
