Full Job Description

Overview
Join our dedicated team as a Direct Support Professional and make a meaningful difference in the lives of individuals with diverse needs. In this vital role, you will provide compassionate, personalized care to promote independence, safety, and well-being. Whether supporting seniors, individuals with developmental disabilities, or those experiencing memory care challenges, your efforts will foster a nurturing environment where clients feel valued and empowered. This paid position offers an energizing opportunity to develop your caregiving skills while positively impacting your community every day.

Responsibilities

Assist clients with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility support
Monitor patient health by taking vital signs and observing for any changes in condition
Administer medication following care plans and ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations to protect client privacy
Prepare nutritious meals and assist with cooking to meet individual dietary needs
Support residents during outings or community activities to promote social engagement and independence
Maintain a clean and safe environment through regular cleaning duties and adherence to safety protocols
Document care activities accurately in client records and update care plans as needed
Use specialized equipment such as Hoyer lifts or resident’s <PERSON> to safely transfer clients with mobility challenges
Respond promptly to emergency situations by performing CPR or first aid when necessary
Collaborate with healthcare professionals, family members, and social workers to deliver comprehensive care

Requirements

Prior experience in group homes, assisted living, nursing homes, or home & community care settings is highly preferred
Certification in CPR and First Aid is required; additional certifications such as HIPAA training are a plus
Strong knowledge of patient observation, medication administration, and vital signs monitoring
Ability to perform heavy lifting and physical tasks safely while maintaining client dignity and comfort
Experience working with individuals with disabilities, autism, dementia (including Alzheimer’s), or memory care needs is advantageous
Excellent communication skills and patience to support diverse populations effectively
Ability to follow detailed care plans and adhere to safety standards at all times
Flexibility to work various shifts including evenings, weekends, or holidays as needed
