Kitchen Lead / Assistant Kitchen Manager

Northwoods Bar & Grill – Nowthen, MN
Full-Time | Hourly with Opportunity to Transition to Salaried Kitchen Manager

Northwoods Bar & Grill is looking for an experienced, dependable Kitchen Lead / Assistant Kitchen Manager who is ready to take the next step into kitchen management.

We are looking for someone who can come in, learn our kitchen and systems, work alongside our team, and gradually take on additional management responsibilities. For the right person, this position is intended to grow into our Kitchen Manager role.

Responsibilities

Work hands-on alongside the kitchen team
Lead and coordinate the kitchen during busy service periods
Ensure food is prepared consistently and meets our quality standards
Keep the line stocked, organized and ready for service
Oversee daily prep and make sure prep is completed
Train and support kitchen staff
Help hold team members accountable to kitchen standards and expectations
Maintain a clean, organized and food-safe kitchen
Assist with inventory, food ordering and maintaining proper product levels
Help reduce waste and control food costs
Communicate staffing, inventory and operational needs with ownership and management
Help plan daily specials and contribute ideas for menu development
Take on additional kitchen management responsibilities as you learn our operation

What We're Looking For

Previous line cook and/or kitchen leadership experience
Strong ability to lead during high-volume rushes
Dependable and willing to step up when needed
Good communication and leadership skills
Organized and able to prioritize prep and kitchen needs
Ability to train, direct and hold staff accountable
A team-first attitude — this is a hands-on leadership position
Food Safety Manager Certification required, or ability to obtain certification within 60 days of hire
Flexible availability required, including a mix of day, evening and weekend shifts

Schedule

This is a full-time position with a schedule that will include a mix of day, evening and weekend shifts.

We're looking for someone with the flexibility to learn all aspects of the kitchen and be present during different service periods, including key high-volume shifts.

Compensation & Growth

This position will begin as an hourly Kitchen Lead / Assistant Kitchen Manager role while you learn our kitchen, team and day-to-day operations.

Pay will be reviewed after your first 30 days based on performance, leadership and progress in the role.

As you demonstrate the ability to successfully take on the full responsibilities of Kitchen Manager, the position is intended to transition into a salaried Kitchen Manager role.

We're looking for someone who wants more than just another cooking position. This is an opportunity to become an important part of our leadership team and grow with Northwoods Bar & Grill.

Pay: $22.00 - $25.00 per hour
