Position Summary
Atlas Surgery Center is seeking an Interventional Radiologic Technologist / IR Tech to provide advanced radiologic imaging and procedural support in a fast-paced ambulatory surgery center environment. This role supports physicians during interventional radiology and image-guided procedures by operating specialized imaging equipment, preparing procedural rooms and supplies, maintaining sterile technique, scrubbing during procedures, assisting with patient positioning and procedural flow, and promoting safe, efficient, high-quality patient care.
Key Responsibilities
Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Perform radiologic imaging procedures in accordance with provider orders, facility protocols, and applicable radiologic standards of care.
- Operate radiology and interventional imaging equipment, including C-arm, O-arm, biplane systems, angio injectors, and related procedural imaging equipment.
- Assist physicians during interventional radiology and image-guided procedures, including sterile field setup, scrubbing, positioning, imaging support, and procedural assistance.
- Prepare procedure rooms, imaging equipment, sterile trays, contrast supplies, procedural materials, and specialty equipment prior to procedures.
- Maintain sterile technique and follow infection prevention, procedural safety, and radiation safety standards throughout procedures.
- Anticipate procedural needs and assist with appropriate supplies, implants, instruments, imaging equipment, and specialty materials during cases.
- Assist with patient preparation, positioning, transfer, transport, and procedural flow before, during, and after procedures.
- Establish or assist with IV access and contrast administration in accordance with certification, demonstrated competency, facility policy, and applicable regulations.
- Maintain accurate patient care records, imaging documentation, implant logs, quality control records, equipment logs, and other required documentation.
- Clean, monitor, stock, and maintain imaging equipment, procedure rooms, and work areas in accordance with facility policies.
- Assist with room turnover and procedural readiness between cases.
- Participate in quality assurance, risk management, accreditation, training, competency, and regulatory compliance activities.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of two years of experience as an Interventional Radiology Technologist, Angiography Technologist, or in a similar procedural imaging role required.
- Previous experience scrubbing and assisting during interventional radiology or image-guided procedures required.
- Experience operating advanced imaging equipment, including C-arm, O-arm, biplane systems, angio injectors, and related procedural imaging equipment required.
- Knowledge of sterile technique, procedural workflow, radiation safety practices, and infection prevention standards required.
- Ability to anticipate procedural needs and work effectively in a fast-paced procedural environment.
- Ability to document patient care and imaging-related information accurately and timely.
- Ability to communicate professionally and effectively with patients, physicians, nursing staff, vendors, and other clinical personnel.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented surgical or procedural environment.
- Commitment to patient safety, confidentiality, and high-quality care.
Licensure / Certifications
- Current New York State Radiologic Technologist license/registration required.
- Current ARRT certification required.
- Current Basic Life Support certification required or ability to obtain within the required timeframe.
- IV certification required.
Preferred Qualifications
- Advanced certification in Vascular-Interventional Radiography preferred.
- ACLS certification preferred.
- Experience preparing for and supporting interventional or surgical procedures in a procedural, operating room, ambulatory surgery center, or similar environment.
- Knowledge of interventional radiology supplies, procedural equipment, implants, catheters, guidewires, and specialty devices.
- Experience with electronic medical records, imaging documentation, and procedural documentation.
Schedule / Work Hours
Full-time and part-time opportunities may be available. Shifts are typically 8 or 10 hours and may vary based on surgical schedule, procedural volume, patient care needs, staffing, and business operations.
Compensation
The expected compensation range for this position is $34.00 - $39.00 per hour. Actual compensation will be determined based on relevant experience, education, qualifications, licensure/certification, skills, and internal equity.
This range represents Atlas Surgery Center’s good-faith estimate of the expected compensation for this position at the time of posting, in accordance with New York State pay transparency requirements.

Physical Requirements and Work Environment
Work is performed in an ambulatory surgery center environment, including the operating room, angio suite, procedure rooms, and related clinical areas. This position requires prolonged standing, walking, bending, reaching, pushing, pulling, and assisting with patient positioning and transfers.
The employee must be able to lift up to 30 pounds and assist with patient transfers, equipment movement, and patient-care activities, using assistance or mechanical aids when appropriate. This role also requires visual and auditory acuity for imaging equipment operation, documentation, patient assessment, patient monitoring support, and communication.
The employee must be able to wear radiation protection equipment, including lead aprons and other protective devices, for extended periods as required. This role may involve exposure to radiation, blood, bodily fluids, sharps, infectious materials, cleaning agents, hazardous chemicals, contrast agents, medical equipment, and other clinical materials. Personal protective equipment and radiation safety protection must be worn as required.
