Cloverleaf Interface Specialist (HL7) – 100% RemotePosition Overview
We are seeking an experienced Cloverleaf Interface Specialist to join our healthcare interoperability team. This role is responsible for designing, developing, implementing, testing, and supporting healthcare interfaces between laboratory systems, Electronic Medical Records (EMR), Laboratory Information Systems (LIS), and customer applications.
The ideal candidate will have extensive hands-on experience with Cloverleaf Interface Engine, HL7 messaging, and healthcare interoperability standards, along with a strong understanding of laboratory workflows, interface implementations, production support, and client-facing project delivery.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, configure, and maintain healthcare interfaces using Cloverleaf Interface Engine.
- Implement and support HL7 interfaces between EMR/EHR systems, Laboratory Information Systems (LIS), Quest laboratory applications, and customer systems.
- Gather interface requirements by collaborating with clients, vendors, laboratory teams, and internal stakeholders.
- Analyze interface specifications and ensure compliance with Quest HL7 standards and industry best practices.
- Create interface design documentation, implementation plans, testing strategies, and operational procedures.
- Perform interface mapping, message transformation, routing, filtering, and validation.
- Configure and support communication protocols including TCP/IP, VPN, Web Services, LLP, FTP/SFTP, and other interface connectivity methods.
- Conduct interface testing, integration testing, user acceptance testing (UAT), and production validation.
- Coordinate and support interface deployments, cutover activities, and go-live events.
- Provide post-implementation support and monitor interface performance to ensure system reliability.
- Troubleshoot interface failures, message processing issues, and data discrepancies across integrated systems.
- Perform root cause analysis and resolve production interface issues in a timely manner.
- Collaborate with EMR vendors, laboratory vendors, and third-party partners throughout the implementation lifecycle.
- Provide Level 3 technical support for interface-related incidents and production issues.
- Maintain detailed documentation including interface specifications, workflow diagrams, implementation guides, support documentation, and operational checklists.
- Communicate project status, implementation updates, and issue resolutions to project stakeholders.
- Participate in continuous process improvement initiatives to enhance interoperability, system performance, and customer satisfaction.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Healthcare Informatics, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- 5+ years of hands-on experience with Cloverleaf Interface Engine.
- 5+ years of HL7 interface implementation experience.
- Strong knowledge of HL7 v2.x messaging standards, including:
- ADT
- ORM
- ORU
- DFT
- SIU
- MDM
- Experience integrating EMR/EHR systems with Laboratory Information Systems (LIS).
- Experience implementing laboratory interfaces and supporting healthcare interoperability projects.
- Strong understanding of healthcare workflows and laboratory operations.
- Experience with interface implementation, testing, validation, and production deployments.
- Experience supporting interface go-live activities and post-production stabilization.
- Experience troubleshooting production interfaces and resolving complex integration issues.
- Working knowledge of SQL for interface validation and troubleshooting.
- Excellent analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to interact directly with clients and vendors.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience supporting Quest Diagnostics laboratory interfaces.
- Experience working with laboratory analyzers and instrument integrations.
- Experience with FHIR, REST APIs, XML, JSON, and Web Services.
- Experience with Mirth Connect, Rhapsody, or other healthcare interface engines.
- Knowledge of X12, CCD/C-CDA, DICOM, or healthcare interoperability standards.
- Experience working in Agile project environments.
- Familiarity with ServiceNow, Jira, Azure DevOps, or similar ticketing/project management tools.
