Full Job Description

Job Title: Data Scientist/Engineer
Location: Washington, DC
Type: 12-month Contract
Contractor Work Model: Hybrid – onsite 1-2 days per month

Responsibilities

Develop algorithms, scripts, and predictive analytics using AWS Sagemaker, AWS Bedrock, AWS AgentCore, and other AI & ML tools to turn disparate data into objective decisions.
Build and maintain machine learning models and Gen AI solutions, including selecting features, optimizing classifiers, and enhancing data collection procedures.
Apply data mining techniques, statistical analysis, and predictive modeling to improve business processes such as claim processing and provider prediction.
Process, cleanse, and verify data integrity; conduct ad-hoc analyses; and present clear results to stakeholders.
Create automated anomaly detection systems and continuously monitor their performance.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to extend ML/AI services to new business cases and plans.

Requirements

BS Degree in STEM or higher; 7+ years of overall experience with at least 1+ year in Generative AI and AWS Sagemaker.
Experience in predictive modeling, data science, and machine learning, including techniques like support vector machines, neural networks, and gradient boosting.
Proficiency in programming languages such as Python and SQL; experience with NoSQL and cloud database platforms like Snowflake.
Experience developing Generative AI solutions with LLMs and customizing models to solve business problems.
Minimum of 2 years applying data science/analytics within the health insurance/healthcare industry.
Experience with cloud services such as AWS Sagemaker and MS Azure, and analytic tools including Spark, Hive, Power BI or Tableau is a plus.
Strong understanding of statistical and mathematical modeling, experience working in Agile/Scrum environments, and proficient with Linux/Unix commands and version control tools.
Excellent communication skills, with the ability to influence and present findings effectively in a fast-paced environment.
