Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and highly skilled PCU / Stepdown Registered Nurse (RN) to join our dynamic healthcare team. In this role, you will provide specialized nursing care to patients transitioning from intensive care units or acute hospital settings, ensuring seamless recovery and stabilization. Your expertise in medical and telemetry nursing will contribute significantly to patient outcomes, supporting a multidisciplinary team committed to delivering exceptional care. Requirements

Active RN license (New York license in hand)
AHA BLS certification (if expired can update during onboarding)
AHA ACLS certification (if expired can update during onboarding)

Preferred Qualifications

Previous travel nursing experience (Not required)

Duties

Monitor and assess patients' vital signs, physiological status, and response to treatment using advanced telemetry equipment.
Administer medications, including IV infusions, injections, and specialized treatments such as botulinum toxin therapy when indicated.
Manage complex patient needs involving cardiac catheterization, trauma medicine, infectious disease care, and acute pain management.
Collaborate with physicians and interdisciplinary teams to develop and implement individualized care plans.
Maintain accurate medical documentation within electronic health record (EHR) systems such as Epic or Cerner, ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations.
Perform procedures including suturing, catheterization, tube feeding management, and sterile dressing changes.
Conduct patient education on medication administration, discharge planning, and health coaching tailored to diverse populations including geriatrics, pediatrics, and individuals with developmental disabilities.
Assist in triage assessments in urgent care or emergency room settings to prioritize patient needs effectively.
Support infection control protocols and aseptic techniques during all patient interactions.
Participate in case management activities related to long-term care, hospice & palliative medicine, or post-acute care transitions.

Experience

Proven experience as a registered nurse in medical-surgical units, telemetry or stepdown units within hospital environments.
Critical care experience preferred, including ICU or Level I/II trauma center exposure.
Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems such as Epic or Cerner is essential.
Knowledge of ICD coding (ICD-9/ICD-10), CPT coding, and laboratory experience enhances clinical effectiveness.
Experience working with diverse patient populations including seniors in assisted living or memory care settings; pediatric and neonatal ventilator experience is advantageous.
Demonstrated competence in advanced procedures such as cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), airway management, phlebotomy, and venipuncture.
Background in specialty areas like occupational health, home & community care, or outpatient clinics is beneficial.
Strong understanding of physiology knowledge related to trauma medicine, infectious disease care, and acute care protocols.
Ability to adapt quickly in high-pressure environments such as emergency medicine or urgent care settings while maintaining excellent patient assessment skills.
