Full Job Description

We are looking for a qualified Dietary Aide to prepare and serve food to people in our facility. You will deliver dishes and ensure good sanitary conditions in cooking and dining premises. A Dietary Aide must be capable to prepare food following instructions while adhering to all safety and health standards. They must be competent and conscientious with a customer-oriented approach. The goal is to provide excellent food services by following instructions and standards.

Responsibilities

Handles food preparation duties as directed per the menu and recipes, such as washing, peeling, slicing chopping, grinding, mixing, cooking, toasting, etc. in order to prepare the meals to deliver to residents.
Serves food portions to residents or assists with serving meal trays; delivers to residents as assigned.
Prepare meals in accordance with planned menus.
Prepare and serve meals that are palatable and appetizing in appearance.
Serve food in accordance with established portion control procedures.
Prepare food for therapeutic diets in accordance with planned menus.
Prepare food in accordance with standardized recipes and special diet orders.
Prepare and serve substitute foods to residents who refuse foods served.
Must wear proper attire while on duty (i.e. hairnets, uniforms, gloves).
Assist with kitchen cleaning activities, to include sanitizing counters, kitchen appliances, stoves and refrigerators, washing pots and pans, loading dishwashers, mopping and sweeping the floors, etc. in order to meet DHEC standards.
Ensure that food and supplies for the next meal are readily available.
Assist in inventorying and storing in-coming food, supplies, etc., as necessary.
Provides dining room assistance, such as tablecloth changes and table set-ups as assigned.
Develop and maintain a good working rapport with inter-department personnel as well as with other departments within the facility to assure that food service can be properly maintained to meet the needs of the residents.
Create and maintain an atmosphere of warmth, personal interest, and positive emphasis as well as a calm environment throughout the department.
Adhere to all HIPAA guidelines.
Performs other related duties as assigned.

Skills

Able to prep food or cook a variety of foods in large quantities.
Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language.
Possess the ability to deal tactfully with personnel, residents, family members, visitors, government agencies/personnel and the general public while maintaining a positive customer service experience.
Knowledgeable of food procedures.
Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
Must maintain the care and use of supplies, equipment, the appearance of work areas, and perform regular inspections of food service areas for sanitation, order, safety and proper performance of assigned duties.
Provide a patience, tact, cheerful disposition and enthusiasm.
Must possess the ability to seek out new methods and principles and be willing to incorporate them into existing food practices.
High school diploma or equivalent; certification in food services is preferred.
