Position Summary

The Senior Accounting Clerk performs a variety of accounting functions that support the daily operations of the Finance Department. This position is responsible for journal entries, account reconciliations, month-end close activities, fixed asset accounting, bank reconciliations, and financial reporting. The Senior Accounting Clerk also serves as a key liaison between Finance and Retail by researching and resolving Point of Sale (POS) transactions and providing backup support for Accounts Payable and other finance functions as needed.

Essential Responsibilities

Prepare and post journal entries and month-end closing entries.
Research and resolve retail Point of Sale (POS) transactions and serve as the primary Finance contact for Retail operations.
Maintain lease accounting in accordance with ASC lease accounting standards.
Prepare, record, and deposit daily cash and check receipts.
Assist with the monthly financial close process.
Reconcile accounts receivable to the general ledger, apply payments, prepare aging reports, and distribute related reports.
Prepare and post monthly depreciation for fixed assets within the inventory accounting system.
Establish, reconcile, and monitor departmental petty cash funds.
Perform monthly bank reconciliations for multiple accounts.
Provide backup support for Accounts Payable and assist with additional Finance Department responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications

High school diploma or GED required.
Minimum of two (2) years of experience applying basic accounting principles.
Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
Proficiency with accounting software and Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, preferred.
Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Must successfully pass pre-employment criminal background and drug screening.
