Full Job Description

Company Overview

DataCan Services Corporation is a global provider of downhole monitoring tools, pressure and temperature gauges, and production logging systems supporting the oil & gas industry. With operations spanning manufacturing, field services, and data analysis, DataCan USA plays a key role in supporting North American operations from its Houston location.

Position Summary

The Accounts Payable Clerk plays a key role in supporting daily accounting operations while contributing to the broader success of the organization. In addition to core accounting responsibilities, this position requires a high level of flexibility and a willingness to assist across departments as business needs evolve. Help will include shipping, receiving and assistance directly with the President of the company if needed. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, adaptable, and proactive in supporting both finance and operational teams.

Key Responsibilities

Accounts Payable Oversight

Review and approve vendor invoices, ensuring proper coding and authorization
Maintain Purchase Order lists.
Manage full-cycle AP processes, including complex transactions and assist with payable runs
Monitor aging reports and proactively resolve discrepancies or collection issues
Maintain strong vendor and customer relationships
Manage vendor account set-ups
Knowledge of NetSuite is a plus
Ability to work 20-30 hours per week

Cross-Functional Support & Flexibility

Provide administrative and operational support to other departments as needed with shipping, receiving, inventory count. (e.g., operations, procurement, HR)
Assist with special projects, reporting requests, and ad hoc analysis across the organization
Assist the President of the Company with tasks needed
Adapt to shifting priorities and take on additional responsibilities in a fast-paced environment
Collaborate with field and office teams to ensure accurate cost tracking and financial reporting
Serve as a reliable team resource, stepping in to support coverage during absences or peak workloads

Audit & Compliance

Support internal and external audits by preparing documentation and schedules
Ensure compliance with company policies and industry standards
Maintain organized and audit-ready financial records

Process Improvement & Leadership

Train and mentor junior accounting staff or clerks
Recommend and implement improvements to accounting workflows and controls
Promote a team-oriented environment focused on efficiency and continuous improvement

Qualifications

Education & Experience

Required: Graduation from a high school or GEP equivalent.
Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred but not required
3+ years of progressive accounting experience preferred
Prior experience in a senior or clerk role preferred

Skills & Competencies

Strong knowledge of GAAP and accounting procedures
Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUP, etc.)
Experience with accounting systems/ERP platforms
Strong organizational and multitasking abilities
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
High level of adaptability, initiative, and willingness to support multiple teams

Preferred Experience

Experience in oil & gas, manufacturing, or industrial services
Familiarity with job costing, inventory accounting, and multi-entity operations
Experience supporting audits and financial reporting

Working Conditions

Office-based position in Houston, TX 77040
Regular interaction with cross-functional teams including field operations and working with our accounting team, Head Quarters in Canada.
Flexible approach to workload, with occasional additional hours during reporting periods
Flexible schedule; part-time and willing to adapt needs for the right employee.
