Full Job Description

We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Medical Charge Entry Specialist to join our growing nephrology practice. This position is responsible for the timely and accurate entry of professional, dialysis, laboratory, and interventional procedure charges to ensure clean claim submission and optimal reimbursement.

The ideal candidate will have experience with medical billing, CPT/ICD-10 coding, charge reconciliation, and revenue cycle processes.

Our hours are 8:30 am- 5:00 pm Monday- Thursday and 8:30 am- 2:00 pm on Fridays. We are off on weekends and all major holidays. Following a 90 day review we offer a full benefit package including PTO, health, dental, and vision insurance, short term disability, and life insurance. 401k contributions begin after one year of employment.

Responsibilities

Enter charges accurately and efficiently from physician documentation, encounter forms, operative reports, and dialysis records.
Review documentation to ensure all billable services are captured.
Verify CPT, HCPCS, ICD-10, and modifier usage for accuracy.
Reconcile daily charge batches and identify missing charges.
Review claim edits and work charge-related rejections.
Collaborate with providers, coders, and billing staff to resolve documentation and coding discrepancies.
Monitor charge lag reports and ensure charges are entered within established timelines.
Maintain compliance with Medicare, Medicaid, and commercial payer billing guidelines.
Support billing department initiatives to improve clean claim rates and reduce denials.

Experience

Minimum 2 years of medical charge entry, medical billing, or coding experience.
Knowledge of CPT, HCPCS, ICD-10-CM, and modifier usage.
Experience working with electronic medical record (EMR) and practice management systems.
Strong understanding of insurance billing processes and claim submission workflows.
Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
Ability to meet productivity and quality standards in a fast-paced environment.
Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
Strong understanding of medical terminology, medical records management, and billing procedures.
Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems used for coding and billing processes.
Prior experience working with insurance companies for claim submission and follow-up is highly desirable.
Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail and accuracy in all tasks.
Ability to communicate effectively with healthcare providers, insurance representatives, and patients.
