Anatomy Gifts Registry is a mission-driven nonprofit organization seeking dedicated individuals to join our team. A successful candidate is interested in human anatomy and physiology and disease states, and wants a job where they can perform recovery of tissues from adult deceased donors for approved researchers and educators.
As an anatomist/ tissue recovery technician, you would be primarily responsible for the evaluation and preparation of gross human anatomical tissue specimens for the purposes of medical research and education. These tissues are recovered from donors of the Anatomy Gifts Registry program, aged 18 and older who do not have a history of infectious or contagious disease. The employee for this role is a person with sufficient knowledge in anatomy and physiology, and medical terminology, and has the ability to perform after-hour on-call duties and human remains (HR) transportation. They will be performing dissections for medical research, inventory control, and distribution of specimens to researchers and clinicians worldwide. An ideal candidate will have significant interests in forensics, pathology, thanatology, anthropology, and/or medicine and allied health fields.
Essential Job Responsibilities:
- Specimen recovery for research & education
- Review and transcription of donor medical/social histories and medical records
- Preparation and shipment of specimens
- Transport of specimens and donors
- Laboratory maintenance, instrument cleaning, and supplies management
- Assist with Surgical Skills Training and Education events
- Additional Duties as assigned

Educational Background and Experience Qualifications :
- Bachelors Degree or higher in an area relating to medical, biological, social, or mortuary sciences; or an Associates Degree and equivalent in work experience; or certification in related field with equivalent in work experience; or working towards a degree in process; or relevant work experience in the field
- Demonstrated accuracy, organizational skills, integrity, attention to detail, excellent reporting/recording skills, and proper follow through
- Proven track record of responsible work habits
Additional Expectations:
- The employee shall share in the rotation of on-call/P1 duties and shall have the ability to report to the office within one hour of being contacted to come in
- The employee shall interact at times with funeral directors, mortuary transporters, medical examiner/coroners, forensic investigators, and medical professionals and shall maintain professionalism
- This position requires the employee to be able to lift around 75lbs and work in various temperature conditions at times such as high heat and very cold. The position requires PPE be worn such as surgical masks, gloves, steel toe footwear, scrubs, etc. The employee shall be on their feet for a lot of the workday and be expected to lift, bend, and walk throughout the building
- Strict adherence to company guidelines pertaining to signed agreement on confidentiality of information, compliance with HIPAA, and adheres to organizational hierarchy
- Valid driver’s license with clean driving record and reliable personal transportation- A criminal background check and review of driving record is required for this position
