Job Description:
During completion of training, the CV Invasive Specialist performs duties necessary for cardiac catheterization procedures at a technical and professional level requiring proctoring and supervision of technical detail. Performs a variety of technical procedures that require supervised judgment. Assumes responsibility and initiative for designated areas and procedures as required under the direction of assigned mentor. Follows Society of Invasive Cardiovascular Professionals Scope of Practice. An RN will be present to supervise the care of patients during moderate sedation.

Intermountain Health Saint Vincent Hospital is equipped with 2 Cath Labs, 1 Electrophysiology (EP) Lab, 1 Vascular Suite, and a Hybrid Operating Room, providing a comprehensive environment for advanced cardiovascular interventions. We perform approximately 350 procedures per month, spanning a diverse range of specialties:
Cardiac Procedures: Diagnostic and interventional catheterizations, including Impella support.
Electrophysiology: Complex arrhythmia ablations (SVT, atrial fibrillation, Aflutter), Farapulse technology, and Watchman device implantation.
Structural Heart Interventions: TAVR, Triclip, MitraClip, ASD, and PFO closures.
Vascular Procedures: Endovascular, peripheral interventions, EVAR, TAVAR, TEVAR.
Each of our laboratories is outfitted with Philips imaging systems and GE Mac-Lab hemodynamic monitoring systems, complemented by Acist contrast injection devices to optimize precision and efficiency. Our team is highly proficient in using cutting-edge technology, including Pnumbra, Shockwave, Rotablator, Volcano systems, IVUS, Boston Scientific devices, Impella, balloon pumps, and 3D ICE technology.
Beyond our technical expertise, we foster a collaborative and respectful environment that brings together Cardiologists, Electrophysiologists, Vascular Surgeons, and Cardiac Surgeons, ensuring interdisciplinary excellence. Our procedures are carried out by highly skilled three-person teams, composed of registered nurses and invasive technologists, with documentation managed via Epic and Mac-Lab systems. Additionally, we employ a balanced approach to sedation, combining RN-led conscious sedation and anesthesia when appropriate.

As a CV Invasive Specialist in Training at Intermountain Health, you will play a vital role in supporting our clinical team, ensuring our patients receive the best care by:
Essential Functions
- Participate in procedure room preparation and post procedure turn around, and inventory control.
- Develop patient assessment and monitoring skills to inform the physician of deviations from normal criteria throughout the procedure.
- Develop a knowledge base of cardiopulmonary pathophysiology, pharmacology, anatomic anomalies, and specific treatment options.
- Develop specific knowledge of invasive, diagnostic and interventional supplies, appropriate indications and applications, and proper use and deployment techniques.
- Develop an understanding of and begin to provide procedural assistance as a circulating tech, scrub tech, or monitoring tech, according to cath lab policies and procedures and Scope of Practice documents.
- Develop an understanding of the principles of x-ray generation, safety, and the operation of imaging equipment.
- Make hemodynamic recordings, calculations, and interpretations.
- Provide patient education and emotional support for both patient and family members as needed.
- Provide thorough and accurate documentation of each procedure and associated events.
- Develop skills in operating, calibrating and troubleshooting all equipment in the Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory.

Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
- Current applicable license or certification in state of practice.
- and –
- Basic Life Support Certification (BLS) for healthcare providers.
- and –
- ACLS required prior to working on-call.

- Demonstrated relevant clinical experience, which may include work as an LPN, Respiratory Therapist, EKG, tech, or Radiology Tech
Physical Requirements
- Ongoing need for employee to see and read information, labels, assess patient needs, operate monitors, identify equipment and supplies.
- Frequent interactions with patient care providers, patients, and visitors that require employee to verbally communicate as well as hear and understand spoken information, alarms, needs, and issues quickly and accurately, particularly during emergency situations.
- Manual dexterity of hands and fingers to manipulate complex and delicate equipment with precision and accuracy. This includes frequent computer use and typing for documenting patient care, accessing needed information, medication preparation, etc.
- Expected to lift and utilize full range of movement to transfer patients. Will also bend to retrieve, lift, and carry supplies and equipment. Typically includes items of varying weights, up to and including heavy items.
- Need to walk and assist with transporting/ambulating patients and obtaining and distributing supplies and equipment. This includes pushing/pulling gurneys and portable equipment, including heavy items. Often required to navigate crowded and busy rooms (full of equipment, power cords on the floor, etc.)
- May be expected to stand in a stationary position for an extended period of time.
- For roles requiring driving: Expected to drive a vehicle which requires sitting, seeing and reading signs, traffic signals, and other vehicles.
